Q:
Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin
to feel and act normal again?
A:
When the kids are in college.
LOWERING
COST OF MEDICINE?
A
client of a hospital where they made brain transplantations
asked about the prices. The doctor said, "Well,
this Ph.D. brain costs $10,000. This brain belonged to
a NASA top scientist and costs $15,000. Here we have a
policeman's brain as well. It costs $50,000."
The
client asked, "What? How's that possible?"
The
doctor replied, "You see, it's totally unused."

Microsoft
Falls Victim To Its Own Insecure Software -
Microsoft was one of many businesses affected by “Slammer
or Sapphire,” the attack on computers that slowed
internet traffic all over the globe last weekend. Apparently
Microsoft released a fix in July to prevent this attack
on its “SQL Server 2000 database software,” but
companies who didn't install it on their computers
suffered. The fix wasn't installed on all of Microsoft’s
computers because the staff "didn't get around to
it when they should have."-

Little Piggy Plays Football - Pig farmers in
England will be facing a fine if they fail to give their
pigs toys. The government is concerned that pigs are getting
too bored and attacking one another. New legislation dictates
that farmers give their pigs “a football, metal chains
or hay” with which they can “forage with their
snout(s),” or be fined up to 2,500 pounds. Says one
pig farmer, "Every farmer I've spoken to think it's
hilarious." - from Excite

GOO!
NEW Desktops -
Cool Monkie beans! More amazing Desktop work just keeps
coming in. So it's time to share. This week, 7 tasty
new Desktop treats are on the GUI platter and ready to
roll.
Let's dig in!
Nature -
Bringing you some fabulous work from Down Under is
Michael
Heath with Yarra
River.
Michael is a Senior Graphic Artist from Australia and
our latest Desktop contributor. This beautiful pic
brings the outdoors straight to your desktop and is
sure to be a favorite!
Desktops -
Master crafter Jack
Juliussen returns with OSX
Logo III, one of his
eye catching specialties from the galleries of Prevision.
Jack combines the "Classic" colors with a modern
day Mac logo to create a must-have desktop work.
From
MacMonkies own Ron
Westby comes a thought provoking
selection titled Ride
Into the Sun. With
all the recent talk of war and peace, it makes a person
wonder if one can appreciate one without the other.
Etc... -
Barking up a storm in our Etc. Department is
James Naylor with a commanding piece we call Guard
Dog. This big guy ought to keep out all
the desktop predators from snooping around where they
just don't belong. Just how are the cats gonna handle
this one?!
3
Dimensional - Always finding the time and
inspiration to create a fine piece to send your way
is Bob Wiley with Hawaiian
Inspiration.
This great piece was made largely without Photoshop,
but turned out nicely enough that you'll be begging
for more!
Alas!
The Green Grass!
Once again, Martin Schulte dazzles the mind with his
imaginative abilities from the galleries of Terraholic.net.
Peace and solitude is also what this work will add
to your desktop as well as your viewing pleasure.
Wrapping
up this week's Wednesday Desktop Update is the most
honorable (did I just say that?) Scott Chitwood. The
Rampant
Mac GUI master blows the 3-D mind with one
of my all time faves: Dance
at Sunrise. Scott knows no end
to the creative process of making your eyes happy.
Enjoy!
Thanks

CLEARLY
There
was this guy and he had a girlfriend called Lorraine
who was very pretty and he liked her a lot. One day he
went to work to find that a new girl had started. Her
name was Clearly and she was absolutely gorgeous. He
became quite besotted with her and after a while it became
obvious that she was interested in him too.
But
this guy was a loyal man and he wouldn't get involved
with
Clearly
while he was still going out with Lorraine. He decided
that there was nothing for it but to break up with
her and get it on with the new girl. He planned several
times
to tell Lorraine but he couldn't bring himself to do
it.
One
day they went for a walk along the river bank when Lorraine
slipped and fell in to the river. The current
carried her off and she drowned. The guy stopped for
a moment by the river and then ran off smiling and
singing: "I
can see Clearly now Lorraine has gone." Oh geez!
