3-D Department
- Kara Kelly of Kara-Kelly
(dot com that is) expresses her missing
element without missing a beat. =)
From the artistry of Alan Sherwood, also
of EA Design, comes Our Landscape II, the second in
the Landscape series. From Alan:
The brooding atmosphere in the
second of this series gives the message an air of dread. The
fact that we can hardly ever say what we really think or even
think it. And that to people so close we cannot disclose our
deepest feelings.
Closing out the Gallery
this week are two cool new works from MacMonkies - Midnight
Rain and Window In Time.
Shine on you crazy diamond!
SPECIAL THANKS
We extend our gratitude to:

News On The Net...
Money Friendly Macs - A study conducted by the Melbourne University
Faculty of Arts in
Australia has shown that it is 36 percent cheaper to own a Mac
than a PC. Macs were "twice as cheap" in ease of use.
The study also took the "price of hardware and upgrades,
the cost of providing technical support and training, and depreciation"
into consideration. The overall conclusion was that corporations
would be doing themselves a big favor by investing in Macs. - from MacUser
Mega Mac Music - MegaDeath guitarist, David Ellefson,
is out to show people the music side of Macs. He is a huge Mac
fan, owns iMacs, iBooks and PowerBooks, and has started a column
in which he hopes to get "behind the scenes" testimonies
of musicians who use Macs in the making of their music. Ellefson
uses his Macs to make his own music and wants the public to be
aware of what a big part the Mac plays in the production of the
music they listen to every day.
Heavy, man. Heavy. - from MacCentral
Need For Speed! - On June 17, 2002, Powerlogix
began offering G4 500 processor
upgrades on G3 Powerbooks. They will replace G3 processors with
a new G4-7410 chip. The BlueChip Pismo G4 500 processor upgrade
requires that G3 Powerbooks be sent in to Powerlogix, and US
customers are guaranteed to get their PowerBooks back in five
business days. They also have announced
new G4 processor upgrades running from 750Mhz to 1GHz, available
in July. - from Powerlogix
Windows: Not For Everyone - A complaint has been filed with the antitrust
department of Israel because Microsoft has refused to support
the Hebrew, Russian, Arabic and Korean languages in their Mac
versions of Internet Explorer and the Office Suite. Windows supports
these languages. The complaint is that Microsoft is again acting
as a monopoly by limiting the availability of their competitors
while making their product available to everyone. - from

Search Your Engines! - Search engine AlltheWeb.com
has claimed to index more
information than its rival Google.
AlltheWeb has 2.1 billion web pages on their database, while
Google has only 2.07 billion. Google considers this only one
aspect of a good search engine, and still claims that it has
"the most comprehensive search experience on the Internet."

Wanted: Your Input! - Attention all webheads and sound enthusiasts!
Digidesign wants your
input! From DigiNews:
Digidesign wants your input
to help us improve our website and generate new feature ideas
that will benefit your experience. Knowing more about you, including
your insights and opinions, will help us design our site to better
suit your needs. In appreciation for your thoughts and time,
Digidesign will pick at random one lucky respondent to receive
a FREE Mbox - our new portable micro studio featuring Pro Tools

SHE'S MY BABY
You know your computer is female when:
1. No one but the Creator understands their
internal logic.
2. The native language they use to communicate
with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
3. The message "Bad command or file
name" is about as informative as, "If you don't know
why I'm mad at you, then I'm certainly not going to tell you."
4. Even your smallest mistakes are stored
in long-term memory for later retrieval.

HE'S MY BABY
You know your computer is a male when:
1. They have a lot of data, but are still
clueless.
2. They are supposed to help you solve problems,
but half the time they are the problem.
3. As soon as you commit to one you realize
that, if you had waited a little longer, you could have obtained
a better model.
4. In order to get their attention, you
have to turn them on.
I TOLDJA COMPUTERS WERE RUINING AMERICA!
During a high school break-in in Plymouth,
North Carolina, two burglars found a camera in one of the classrooms
and amused themselves by taking pictures of each other committing
the crime. When they couldn't figure out how to get the film
out of the camera, they concluded it wasn't loaded and left it
behind. The men apparently didn't realize they'd been fooling
around with a digital camera that stores pictures on a computer
disk. Investigators downloaded the snapshots to a computer and
got a complete photographic record of the break-in. The suspects
were quickly arrested.

OOPS! OF THE WEEK
A thief in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
learned a valuable lesson: If you're going to steal restaurant
equipment, be sure to remove pictures of the original owner's
grandchildren before setting the stuff up in your own restaurant.
John Ubbing, owner of Giovanni's Pizzeria in Calabash, North
Carolina, lost an assortment of pizza-making equipment in a March
robbery. A refrigerator stolen in the heist later turned up inside
the Myrtle Beach restaurant - where police found pictures of
Ubbing's grandchildren still stuck to the side of it. The owner
of the second restaurant was arrested.

the same accident, you begin to wonder about history.
