A Grave Situation! - Two boy scouts went on
a nature hike in the hills picking hickory nuts. Along the way, they filled their
small pails and then started to fill their pockets and shirts.
When they could hold no more nuts, they started down the country
road until they came across a cemetery. The boys decided that
would be a good place to stop and rest and divide out the nuts.
The two boys sat in the shade of a large oak tree and unloaded
their pockets and buckets by dumping all of the nuts in a large
pile. In the process, two of them rolled away and rested near
the road. The boys then proceeded to divide out the nuts. "One
for you. One for me. One for you. One for me."
As they were doing
this, another boy was passing by and happened to hear them. He
looked into the cemetery, but could not see the boys, because
they were obscured by the tree. He hesitated a moment and then
ran back to town. "Father! Father!" he yelled as he
entered his house. "The cemetery. Come quick!"
"What's the
matter?" his father asked.
"No time to
explain," the boy frantically panted. "Follow me!"
The boy and his father ran up the country road and stopped when
they reached the cemetery. They stopped at the side of the road
and all fell silent for a few moments.
Then the father
asked his son what was wrong.
"Do you hear
that?" he whispered. Both people listened intently and heard
the Scouts. "One for me. One for you. One for me. One for
you..." The boy then blurted out, "The devil and the
Lord are dividing the souls!"
The father was skeptical
but silent -- until a few moments later as the Scouts completed
dividing out the nuts and one Scout said to the other, "Now,
as soon as we get those two nuts down by the road, we'll have
them all."

EA Design - The gentlemen from EA Design
will not updating this week. It seems as
though Ed Allen has been abducted by cyber space alien
pixel pirates. Apparently, one of the little pixel pukes placed
itself on Ed's monitor disguised as a "spot" or a "smudge."
While Ed was wiping away at the imperfection on his screen, the
little monster sucked him into cyber space oblivion -- tennis
shoes and all.
Meanwhile, Alan
Sherwood is still standing near his comrade's empty computer
chair in a state of cyber space shell shock searching for his
desktop pixel partner. Alan was last heard mumbling something
to the effect of, "He could only be so lucky."
If you happen to
see Ed floating around while you're cruising the cyber surf,
PLEASE return him to EA
Design. Both Alan and Ed would be grateful.
Today's Quote - You may delay, but time
will not.

Computer Gaming: Playing
To Death
- A South Korean man was found in the bathroom of an Internet
cafe after gaming on the computer for 86 hours straight. He didn't
bother to stop gaming in order to eat or sleep, and he actually
"collapsed and died" from it. Last February, a Louisiana
man had a seizure in the middle of a nonstop marathon gaming
session, hit his head on a table and died. Apparently gaming
can be hazardous to your health. - from The

Educating With
iBooks -
Apple's iBook seems to be the most popular in education. In
the state of Maine, an agreement has been reached where an iBook
will be provided to every seventh grader. This is a result of
"a four-year $37.2 million contract between Macintosh and
the state." In Arkansas, the school board for Greenland
Elementary School has earmarked $447,000 strictly to buy iBooks
for students Kindergarten through fourth grade. - from MacCentral
Fashion Computing - Several wearable computers were modeled
at the International Symposium on Wearable Computers last week,
including windbreakers with MP3 players in them and "wrist-mounted
scanners." Some may wonder what these items could add to
the fashion industry, but there are some real-life issues at
hand. Wearable technology can be very useful for some with disabilities,
including blindness, deafness or even loss of short-term memory.
For the rest of us, they can come in handy for "note-taking
and scheduling reminders." - from
Wired
Tales From The Toilet - A German company named Klo-Verlag
has decided to take advantage of the fact that half of all people
like to read on the toilet. They have printed German novels and
poems directly onto the toilet paper, so a person never has to
worry about storing reading material in the bathroom. Said Georges
Hemmerstoffer, head of Klo-Verlag, "We want our books to
be used. That's our philosophy." - from Yahoo
Secure Software - Colleagues at Buffalo University are
developing a software system that will increase computer security
of businesses to 94 percent. The software will monitor the commands
made by individuals at their terminals and sound an alarm if
it detects any suspicious activity. It is believed that this
system will be more reliable in detecting attacks on system securities
because it will monitor each individual user rather than monitoring
an entire network.
from New
Scientist
This Story STINKS! - According to a survey put out by
Renuzit Air Fresheners, skunks are rated the stinkiest of the stinky.
The results of the online survey showed skunks at the highest
rating (59.7 percent). Second place was rotten eggs at 47.2 percent,
and third place was dirty diaper bins at 45.1 percent. The survey
was taken to introduce Renuzit's new product, the Renuzit Super
Odor Neutralizer. Items added to the list by surveyors were "spoiled
meat, sewers and pet urine."

Have you Heard?
When The Chips
Are Up -
IBM has announced
its 64-bit PowerPC microprocessor. Though neither Apple nor IBM
have yet made comment, it is expected that Apple will adopt the
new chip for its line of professional desktop computers. The
new chip is said to clock at 1.8 GHz and is capable of processing
information in 64 bit chunks, as compared with Apple's current
32 bit 1.25 GHz processor. The new chips are expected to be available
sometime next year. It is also being reported
that the adoption of the IBM chip will end the near 20 year relationship
with Motorola.

MS BOOT CAMP
One of Microsoft's
finest technicians was drafted and sent to boot camp. At the
rifle range, he was given some instruction, a rifle, and bullets.
He fired several shots at the target. The report came from the
target area that all attempts had completely missed the target.
The technician looked at his rifle, and then at the target. He
looked at the rifle again, and then at the target again. He put
his finger over the end of the rifle barrel and squeezed the
trigger with his other hand. The end of his finger was blown
off, whereupon he yelled toward the target area, "It's leaving
here just fine, the trouble must be at your end!"

It seems that Mary

TOO HOT TO HANDLE
Two Eskimos sitting
in a kayak were chilly, but when they lit a fire in the craft
it sank - proving once and for all that you can't have your kayak
and heat it, too.
OH MY! #2
A frog went to get
a loan at a bank. The loan officer's name was Ms. Patty Stack.
When the
frog told Ms. Stack that he wanted a loan, she asked if he had
collateral.
He showed her something
that, to her, looked like a marble and said, "This is what
I have for collateral."
She took it to the
bank president and said, "There's a frog out there who wants
a loan, and this is what he has for collateral (showing him the
marble). Do you know what this is, and should I give him the
loan?"
The bank president
said "Why, that's a nic nac, Patty Stack. Give that frog
a loan."

Two boll weevils

Things That Make

Why do we say something
is out of whack? What is a whack?
If man evolved from
monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?
If you ask where
a self-help section is, aren't you defeating yourself?
If a pig loses its

How do you KNOW

What does Geronimo
say when he jumps out of a plane?
Why do they sterilize

are of everything.
