WHAT'S NEW FOR: 1/30/04 - - - -

Icons | Community News | Bananas

January 30-February 1, 2004

Sierra!!!!At The Top - Phew...Sierra!! I know, I know. Enough of the inside humor. But where would you be if we didn't keep you guessin'?! So now that we've got the guess work in the loop of things, how 'bout we set the sigh aside and get down to the pixel party to help wind down from a very long work week. Pixels, News, and Humor too is what we have in store. Let's boogie!

New GOO!

New Icons - Get out your pixel platters! Time to fill up with 3 New Icon Sets for this week's Friday Icon Edition. This round of pixel pleasers has all the right moves, bounce, and architectural design to pack just the pixel punch that your interface needs. Let's go for the goal!

SpringsIconizer Icon Design - Making a giant leap into this week's Icon Edition is the return of Wessley Roche, pixel master of the fabulous Iconizer Icon Design Studios. Wessley gives your "webtop" a big bounce with Springs! Quite the fabulous set for his return to GUI action.

World ArchitectureWatiWorks - Add a world class look to your desktop view with World Architecture from the amazing pixel collections of WatiWorks! The fantabulous abilities of Wati Larke will have your pixel head a spinnin' as you can take a trip around the world's wonders faster than you can trip your clicker!

NFL Helmets AFCRobert Luciano - Hut hut! Making the game winning GUI play with a blitz all the way to the goal line is a great set of teams from the American Football League titled NFL Helmets AFC. This great set by Robert Luciano is a great way to kick off your Super Bowl weekend and score a winning touchdown with your desktop. Enjoy!

Thanks Department --

Wessley, Wati, and Robert...

TOTALLY AWESOME WORK!!

Mandolux - Mando Gomez has been up to all good in the desktop department all Poddiesthis week at Mandolux! Let's take a quick gander at the list of new entries to his galleries:

Mandolux has issued four Vector-based (Abstract/Techno), one Bonzai/Taran (Nature), and one Asiana (Art).

The most recent addition is a new killer Vector-based dual giant desktop titled Poddies. A techno-induced mix of abstract and surreal vector-based objects and patterns combined with snippets of an iPod. The inspiration of this desktop came from the wonderful short article in the UK version of MacWorld titled "iPod 'threatens marriages'". This is a must-have piece! Get yourself to Mandolux and get to diggin' the pixel groove!

THE MUFFLER

A blonde got a dent in her car and took it in to the repair shop. The repairman, noticing that the woman was a blonde, decided to have a wee bit of fun. So he told her that all she had to do was take it home and blow in the tailpipe until the dent popped itself out. After 15 minutes of this, the blonde's blonde friend came over and asked what she was doing.

"I'm trying to pop out this dent, but it's not really working."

"Duh. You have to roll up the windows first!"

WHAT'S UP, DOC?

A guy says, "Doctor, Doctor! Help me, I keep thinking I'm getting smaller!"

Doctor replies, "Well, you'll just have to be a little patient."

MUSICIANS AND LIGHTBULBS

Q: How many musicians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A: One, two, one, two, three, four!

XserveHoney I Shrunk The Supercomputer - Virginia Tech has decided to shrink it’s supercomputer - by switching to XServe. That’s right, all the G5’s will be replaced with XServes, making the mega machine about a third the size smaller than it is right now. The new and improved supercomputer will also generate less heat and cut down power usage. Xserve is able to make the “Big Mac” better because it has been upgraded to 64-bit G5 processors, the same as are available in the Power Macs. - from PC Pro

Apple Ad Anniversary - An article featured in USA Today takes a jump back in time to 1984Apple's "1984" Superbowl ad and the influence that it had. The monumental commercial made a big difference, because even back then Apple did "Think Different." While other computer ads showed men typing on computers, the memorable Mac ad showed a woman in a science fiction setting smashing a giant TV screen. The impact was strong enough to take many tech people further than they ever hoped they could go. - from Macminute and USA Today

Monkie Groove Thang! At The Top - Wooo hoo Monkie hog dogs! Hump day is here and we can push the mid-week blues down the hill with a fun filled Wednesday Desktop Edition. Great GOBS O' GOO and a fun time in the Monkie Zoo is what we have in store for you! Let's groove!

New GOO!

New Desktops - Today's collection of 5 New Desktops for this week's Desktop Edition is kinda like a family reunion! We have five well outstanding artists returning with a fine set of pixel pleasers to satisfy your GUI appetite. Grab your GUI utensils and get to munchin'!

Sydney Harbour BridgeDesktops - Back from "Down Under" is our favorite Aussie artist Michael Heath! All the way from Australia, Michael brings us an awesome photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The shot was taken from the Sydney Opera House looking out over the harbour. Amazing work!

Black Apple Back in black is the man, the myth, the legend...No, not Elvis, but Marty Leone! With his flare in stylistic simplicity, Marty flaunts his Think Simple power pixels with an outstanding piece titled Black Apple. Almost looks like an outfit that Steve Jobs would wear!

Coffee & DonutFun - Make room in your belly for quite the tasty treat! WatiWorks' Wati Larke gives you a double dose of goodness as you will find pleasure for both your tummy and your eyes with Coffee & Donut. The nicest thing about this number is the lack of calories and cops around the corner!

Warped Perspective3-D Rendered - Whipping up a great batch of blue GOO is Jameson Sasser with the wild look of Warped Perspective. This incredible funtastic piece from Jameson showcases his ever improving talents. Guess the best just keeps gettin' better and better!

Long Way Home Always treading the GUI path less traveled is Juergen Eilts taking the Long Way Home. A great selection from ShiftedReality, this thought provoking piece is one of Juergen's older works made with Vue d'Esprit and Poser 4. Perhaps the best things in life take a few extra steps. Enjoy!

Thanks Department --

Juergen, Marty, Michael, Jameson, and Wati...

Your talents continue to amaze with every glance!

Keep those pixels shinin'!!

THE THREE LITTLE PIGS

Once upon a time, Three Little Pigs walk into a Soda Shop. The first pig orders 10 sodas, downs them, and then asks for the bathroom. The second pig orders 15 sodas, downs them, and asks for the bathroom. The third pig orders 20 sodas, downs them, and then sits there eating peanuts.

"Aren't you going to ask for the bathroom?" asks the waiter.

"Nope. I'm the pig who goes wee-wee-wee all the way home."

MEN VS. WOMEN: ROUND 4

Offspring

Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.

A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

Thought For The Day

Any married man should forget his mistakes.

There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

TRUE FOOTBALL FAN

Recently, I was at a professional football game supporting my favorite team. My seat wasn't the greatest, so when I noticed a vacant seat on the fifty yard line 10 rows up, I headed towards it. I asked the man sitting next to it if the seat was taken. He replied, "No".

I started talking to the man and I learned he owned the seat I was in. He said, "My wife use to love to come to these games until she died."

Why didn't you give this seat away to a friend?" I asked.

He replied, "Because they are all at her funeral."
