Quite the fabulous set for his return to GUI action.

Mandolux -
Mando Gomez has been up to all good in the desktop department
all this week at Mandolux!
Let's take a quick gander at the list of new entries to
his galleries:
Mandolux has
issued four Vector-based (Abstract/Techno), one Bonzai/Taran
(Nature), and one Asiana (Art).
The most recent addition is
a new killer Vector-based dual giant desktop titled Poddies.
A techno-induced mix of abstract and surreal vector-based
objects and patterns combined with snippets of an iPod.
The inspiration of this desktop came from the wonderful
short article in the UK version of MacWorld titled "iPod
'threatens marriages'". This is a must-have piece!
Get yourself to Mandolux and
get to diggin' the pixel groove!

THE MUFFLER
A blonde got a dent in her car
and took it in to the repair shop. The repairman, noticing
that the woman was a blonde,
decided to have a wee bit of fun. So he told her that
all she had to do was take it home and blow in the tailpipe
until the dent popped itself out. After 15 minutes of
this, the blonde's blonde friend came over and asked
what she was doing.
"I'm trying to
pop out this dent, but it's not really working."
"Duh. You have
to roll up the windows first!"
WHAT'S UP, DOC?
A guy says, "Doctor,
Doctor! Help me, I keep thinking I'm getting smaller!"
Doctor
replies, "Well, you'll just have to be a little patient."
MUSICIANS AND LIGHTBULBS
Q: How many musicians
does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: One, two, one,
two, three, four!

I Shrunk The Supercomputer -
Virginia Tech has decided to shrink it’s supercomputer
- by switching to XServe. That’s right, all the
G5’s
will be replaced with XServes, making the mega machine
about a third the size smaller than it is right now. The
new and improved supercomputer will also generate less
heat and cut down power usage. Xserve is able to make the “Big
Mac” better because it has been upgraded to 64-bit
G5 processors, the same as are available in the Power Macs. -

Apple
Ad Anniversary - An article featured
in USA Today takes a jump back in time
to Apple's "1984" Superbowl ad and the influence that it
had. The
monumental commercial
made a big difference, because even back then Apple did
"Think Different." While other computer ads
showed men typing on computers, the memorable Mac ad showed
a woman in a
science fiction setting smashing a giant TV screen. The
impact was strong enough to take many tech people further
than they ever hoped they could go. -

a larger percent of people are becoming attracted to Mac

people are enjoying Mac even if they are not die-hard fans.
Now that Mac changed it's marketing scheme to include Windows,

A Pepsi marketer has delved into the details of the iTunes
Giveaway ads
which are to air during the Superbowl. The takes will show
teenagers who have actually been sued for illegal downloading.
I Fought The Law will play in the background

tunes for

of America fully supports the ads promoting the 100 million
song giveaway, and one teen will use her profit to pay

Named Opportunity, it has successfully phoned home with
pictures from the other side of Mars. Photos have shocked
scientists with unfamiliar images, showing that the rover
has gone where no rover has gone before. The pictures show
a surface that appears to be as smooth as Opportunity's
landing, and scientists foresee no obstacles for the second

THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
Once upon a time, Three
Little Pigs walk into a Soda Shop. The first pig orders
10 sodas, downs them, and then asks
for the bathroom. The second pig orders 15 sodas, downs

TRUE FOOTBALL FAN
Recently, I was at
a professional football game supporting my favorite team.
My seat wasn't the greatest,
so when I noticed a vacant seat on the fifty yard line
10 rows up, I headed towards it. I asked the man sitting
next
to it if the seat was taken. He replied, "No".
I
started talking to the man and I learned he owned the
seat I was in. He said, "My wife use to love to come
to these games until she died."
Why didn't you give
this seat away to a friend?" I
asked.
He replied, "Because
they are all at her funeral."
