Don't Bug My Mac - Specialists named
Sophos have shown that Macs really get the bugs out.
Actually, Mac never lets the bugs in to begin with. The specialists
suggest, however, that this is not due to any type of super
security of the Mac or that they have some sort of intense
immunity to viruses. It’s just that the psychology
of virus writers is to try to damage as many systems as
possible, so they design destructive bugs for Windows.
Macs have been known to have viruses, but they hardly ever
show their ugly heads. - from PC Pro
Wiener Winner -
How many hot dogs could you down if a wood chuck could
chuck...wait...wrong rhyme!
But contestants were downing plenty of dogs at the annual
hot-dog-eating contest on Coney Island last week. Top dog
Takeru Kobayashi downed the dogs at a rate of one every
sixteen seconds. But he got hot around the collar because
he only wolfed 44 and a half wieners and he had hoped to
beat his record of 50 and a half. Speaking of all these
halves, splitting the hot dogs in half before swallowing
them is part of Kobayashi's winning strategy. - from

NOBEL IDEA
Q. Why did the farmer win the nobel prize?
A.
Because he was outstanding in his field!
SHOULDA SAID
This guy walks into a bar with his golden
retriever. ''Hey, can I get a drink on the house if
my dog talks for you?''
''Dogs can't talk, pal. But if you
can prove to me yours does, I'll give you a drink. If not,
I get to kick your
butt.''
''Okay,'' says the guy. He turns to his dog.
''Okay fella. Tell me -- what is on top of a house?''
''Roof!''
The man turns and smiles at the bartender.
''THAT ain't
talking! Any dog can bark!''
''Okay boy. Tell me -- how
does sandpaper feel?''
''Ruff!"
''What the heck you tryin' to
pull mister?''
''Okay, okay," says the man. "One
more question please. Okay buddy, tell me -- who is the
greatest ball
player who ever lived?''
"Ruth."
The bartender beats the
heck out of the guy and throws onto the sidewalk outside
of the bar, then throws the dog out next to him. The dog
stands
up and looks at the guy.
"Geez. Maybe I
shoulda said DiMaggio?"

Apple Sets
The Standard - Bryan Chaffin,
one of the brains behind Businessweek, sees the future
of Apple in the iPod. Just as they set the standard for
desktop computers in the beginning, Chaffin suggests that
Apple has set the standard for music with the iPod. The
difference is, when software is developed for Windows,
the iPod will be non-platform. As soon as Windows users
get in on the widely successful sales of Apple’s
iPod, the current success of the small, stylish song player
will skyrocket seven times over. - from MacObserver and
BusinessWeek
iMac Space Exhibit - NASA has been spacing
out with iMacs! Their space cadets have put together a
space exhibit that would even impress Marvin the Martian
using an all iMac cyber station. Space Techs will tour
the US, transporting the mobile space station to libraries
across the land. Inquiring minds can get their hands on
the iMacs to investigate information at the interactive
exhibit. Viewable with the naked eye, "NASA @ your
library" may soon be coming to a library near you!

New
Monkie Poll - Time
for another new Monkie Poll and last week's results. Let's
grab a look!!
Last
week we asked: What
year did the USA become a nation? Here's
how you answered:
1776
62% - I demand my freedom!
1783
14% - Freedom at last?
1781
11% - The Articles of the Confederation.
1964 11%
- Someone wants to "Hold Your Hand!"
1763 2%
- Ya say ya want a Revolution...
WHOA! What a loaded
question!! Though we did declare our independence
in 1776, the road to a "free nation" was all but
over. It wasn't until 1783 that England "formally ended
the United States War for Independence" in the Treaty
of Paris and acknowledged us as "free sovereign
and independent states." Further more, the U.S. Constitution
was not even ratified
until 1787! So as for this Poll, we'll let you do the math!
For
this
week's Monkie
Poll, we do a memory check: How
far back do you remember? Install your memory
chips, scratch your Monkie head, make a little click
to your right and get to pollin'! Clean out them cobwebs!
