Iconize Me! Press Release

DV Graphics: Monday August 5th 2002 - Today, DV Graphics announces a service unlike any other on the web. The popularity of the Switchers and MacGeeks icon sets I've released has prompted many people to ask how they can be turned into icons, or "iconized" as it's become known. "Iconize Me!" is a unique, new service that provides the answer.

The process is very simple. Using the secure order page, users send DV Graphics an image of someone (usually themselves) that they would like to be iconized. After receiving the image, DVG begins work on creating the icon. Every single icon is drawn and colored by hand. Before being turned into icons they are inspected for quality and accuracy. Once they have been inspected, they get finished. As soon as the icon is ready, it is compressed along with a set of instructions and emailed to the customer. The file that is sent is usually between 50Kb-144Kb. The entire process takes 3-7 days. At this time, DV Graphics is only supporting Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X icons. Windows will come later.

But the really amazing part is the price. Most design sites can charge upwards of $100 for a custom designed icon. Iconize Me! blows that away at only $15/icon. Iconize Me! uses the Kagi payment system which employs VeriSign technology to ensure the highest security throughout the transaction. Users can also rest assured that DV Graphics will NEVER distribute any of their icons, images or personal information. Once the customer has the icon, it's theirs to keep. They can use it in any non-commercial means they like. They can send it to friends, post it on their personal website, even put it on their business card.
