Monkie Business

Odds and Ends

Cat Carrier?Pic of the Day - Ha! This pic (author unknown) was sent to our Bananas man Ron Westby. Ron and I got a chuckle as he commented that it's a "good thing Toes (the resident MacMonkies cool cat) didn't know us 15 years ago!" Holy smokes, this could be incriminating! On that note, I'll let the pic do the talking. Grab a look!

Monkie Note - Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for some good news we would like to share with you. See you then!

On the Net

SafariApple Safari 0.8.1 - Boy! That didn't take long! Apple has already released a fresh Beta version of their just introduced web browser Safari. The latest version does not list any improvements. Get to clickin' and grab your updated version of Safari before the web jungle is hot on your trail!

LiteSwitch X 1.5.2 - The good folks from Proteron have updated their popularLiteSwitch X application switcher LiteSwitch X to version 1.5.2. This update fixes a critical bug in the recently released 1.5.1 update. The bug prevented anyone from using the LiteSwitch X hot keys if they had selected Option-Tab or Control-Tab as the Hot Key Trigger. There's no time like now to make the switch and get your fix for LiteSwitchX!

No Value

This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us.

Monkie News

Shakin' HeadMonkie Sigh - Ever heard a Monkie bark? Hmmm. Probably not. But you may have heard one growl over the course of the last few days! Hopefully, most things here at MacMonkies are back to normal, though I won't hold my breath. **SIGH**

Anyway, due to all the weird-oddities the last couple, this Update will be a tad shorter than normal. Also, we will postpone the wonderful news we mentioned yesterday until Monday. Until then, check out the rest of the Monkie goodies including 2 New Icon sets ready for the grabbin'. Check 'em out!

New GOO!

Icons

NEW Icons - Get out your ooo's and ahhh's! This week's icons are awesome on the eyes. Let's drool!

Flag IconsWatiWorks - Wati Larke, head pixel pusher from WatiWorks keeps the excellence on the rise with Flag Icons. It's a wonder how someone could improve on his previous wonders, but Wati shows that the best keep on getting better!

Aqua SeaAlex Rabino - Another amazing icon artist is Alex Rabino with Aqua Sea. If you're in need of an icon with a porpoise, this superb set of 6 will quench your Aqua thirst and you don't even need to take a visit to Six Flags Marine World!

Check 'em out!

Community News

World of Aqua 4The Iconfactory - Hang on to you socks! The folks at The Iconfactory have just released World of Aqua 4, the much anticipated icon set by Dave Brasgalla that will make your other icons jealous! Make a quick trip over yonder to The Iconfactory and check 'em out. MOVE IT!

Mandolux - How does he do it?! Mando Gomez consistently pumps out quality desktop material each week at Mandolux. Here's the run down on all the latest:

Mandolux has issued this week five new desktops: one Vector-based (Graffiti), one Technosis/Anthraxis (Abstract/Satin), one zenas | closer (Abstract), and two Bonzai/Taran (Nature/Scenery).

Just Plain Nuts - R. Westby

ON THE COURT

The psychology instructor had just finished a lecture on mental health and was giving an oral test. Speaking specifically about manic depression, she asked, "How would you diagnose a patient who walks back and forth screaming at the top of his lungs one minute, then sits in a chair weeping uncontrollably the next?"

A young man in the rear raised his hand and answered, "A basketball coach?"

Can't Keep A Mac Monkie Down! - Well, well. Wasn't that fun! Due to a major hosting "situation," this Monkie got stuck in the butt with a real sharp something-or-other and got some nasty downtime. If you can see this, it's been fixed. If you can't, well what the heck! Please keep in mind that your ISP (AOL, Earthlink, ATTBI, etc.) uses a thingy called internet cache. So our humble little site may appear to go in and out on occasion for the next day or 2 until all that stuff is cleared out. Till then, if you "note the NET" and type in:

http://www.macmonkies.net

You should be able to see things quite spiffley. Also, to keep the stress down and the elbows high, we have only added to the Software Updates for this edition.

On the lighter side of things, we have some WONDERFUL news to share with you tomorrow, as well as an Icon or four. Grab your vine for a real good time this Friday at MacMonkies!

Roll With the Changes - Over the course of the next few days, we will be making some necessary changes in how we serve up the goodies at MacMonkies. So if you happen to find a burp or a hiccup, a bad link or stall, please bear with us. Everything should be all spiffy soon. Thanks for your patience and support!

New GOO!

Desktops

NEW Desktops - WOW! What a fine selection of desktops we have on hand this week in the Gallery for your eyes to drool upon. Shall we?

Searching3-Dimensions - Heading up our 3-D Department is quite the inspiring work from Martin Schulte, our latest contributor. Just one of the many from Martin's site, Searching ought to give you some direction if you still haven't found what you're looking for!

Returning from the mind of Glenn Fajardo is an amazing piece titled E-17606. Glenn sure knows how to inspire your brain cells with this mind blowing number!

Speaking of mind blown, Rampant Mac's Scott Chitwood warps in with quite the...the...hmmmmm. Well, the indescribable work titled Rivendell III. We'll let your eyes figure this one out!

Think Wild (Red)Desktops - Putting his print on our Desktop edition is Jack Juliussen with Think Wild (Red). This desktop stands firm in the top ranks of excellence from the galleries of Prevision. Your paws are sure to be pleased!

Knowing nothing less than excellence, Xiupe Créations' S. Stéphane also makes his mark with X Grey. This great work will add plenty of class to your desktop x-perience and even help those clutter bugs organize with a dock-style design. X marks the spot!

Wrapping things up is a very nice work from MacMonkies webmaster Wiles. This Is Home was a rather fun one to create as it is an actual photo taken of Casper Mountain, about 2 miles from home in Casper, Wyoming. Once the picture was scanned, the main pic was texturized in Photoshop and water was added over a VERY dry field with the Flood filter from Flaming Pear. Enjoy!

Personal thanks to:

Glenn, Jack, Martin, S. Stéphane, and Scott

for your wonderful work!

Brad

WIGGED OUT

A guy goes to a psychiatrist. "Doc, I keep having these alternating recurring dreams. First I'm a teepee; then I'm a wigwam; then I'm a teepee; then I'm a wigwam. It's driving me crazy. What's wrong with me?"

The doctor replies: "It's very simple. You're two tents."

EAR'S TO YOU

Mommy, Mommy! Billy won't let go of my ear.

Billy, let go of Susie's ear. Billy! Let go of her ear! All right Billy, give me the ear.

ELECTRIFYING!

"No, I lost an electron!"

"Are you sure?"

AT ARM'S LENGTH

What is the range of a tuba?

Twenty yards if you've got a good arm.

FLOORED!

Two fishermen were out on the lake when one of them dropped his wallet. As they watched the wallet float down to the depths of the lake, a carp came along and
snatched up the wallet. Soon came another carp who stole it away and then a third joined in. Remarked one of the fisherman, "That's the first time I've ever seen carp-to-carp walleting."

CHARGED

Energizer Bunny arrested - charged with battery.

SHAKEY STORY

Shakey went to a psychiatrist. "Doc," he said, "I've got trouble. Every time I get into bed, I think there's somebody under it. I get under the bed, I think there's somebody on top of it. Top, under, top, under. You gotta help me, I'm going crazy!"

"Just put yourself in my hands for two years," said the shrink. "Come to me three times a week, and I'll cure your fears."

"How much do you charge?"

"A hundred dollars per visit."

"I'll sleep on it," said Shakey.

Six months later the doctor met Shakey on the street.

"Why didn't you ever come to see me again?" asked the psychiatrist.

"For a hundred buck's a visit? A bartender cured me for ten dollars."

"Is that so! How?"

"He told me to cut the legs off of the bed!"
