Want Your MTV - In 1981, Robert Pittman of Warner-Amex
came up with
the idea for "Music Television." He
convinced the company to make a $30 million
investment
to get it started.
Four years after its conception, Warner-Amex sold MTV to
Viacom for $550 million. Over 10 years ago, its estimated
worth was $2 billion. And Ozzy gets HOW much?

LIGHT
ON THE RED STUFF
Three vampires
walk into a bar and sit down at a table. The waitress
comes over and asks the first vampire what
he would like. The first vampire responds, "I vould
like some blood."
The waitress
turns to the second vampire and asks what he would like.
The vampire responds, "I
vould like some blood."
The waitress
turns to the third vampire and asks what he would like.
The vampire
responds, "I
vould like some plasma."
The waitress
looks up and says, "Let me see if I have this order
correct. You want two bloods and a blood light?"
SLIP UP
A Freudian
slip is when you say one thing but mean your mother.
SLAVE SHIP
The slave
driver of the Roman galleon leered down at his galley
slaves and bellowed, "I've got some good
news and some bad news. The good news is that you'll be
getting double rations tonight!" The murmuring of
the surprised slaves as they struggled with their oars
was interrupted by the slave driver. "The
bad news is that this afternoon the commander's son wants
to water-ski."

iPod
Holds A "Human" - Will Gilbert, University
of New Hampshire Researcher, has
been carrying more than just tunes on his 10GB iPod.
He loaded his data regarding the human genome onto
it. The “3 billion chemical nucleotide letters” take
up less than 1 gigabyte of space, so he still has room
for 600 songs as well. Says Gilbert, “The thing
I love about the iPod is that you can plug in a pair
of headphones and listen to music, or plug in a FireWire
and transfer data." - from Yahoo

A remake of the classic television show “Mr.
Ed” is in the works, according to CNN. Saturday
Night Live writer Jack Handey is to pen the pilot episode.
Fox is developing the return of the show, though the
original ran on CBS in the 1960s. The newest “Ed” is
to have a more hip sounding voice, possibly like the
sound and dialog of Eddie Murphy. Now which end of
the horse is Eddie to play the part? - from CNN

GOO!
Desktops
NEW Desktops -
With so much great GUI to see, we'll slack on
the yack and dig our eyes in the GUI ground. Shall we?
Desktops - From our latest contributor Steve
Sharp comes
the ultra clean
and cool Spotbot. This
Photoshop creation comes from Steve's ever growing
collection of bots thanks to the ever addictive ebay.
It will surely be easy to spot as a favorite in your
desktop collection!
Martin
Schulte of Terraholic.net returns
with a magnificent view of Deep
Space. Martin knows no limit to the
mind's imagination with this realistic portrayal
of the final frontier.
3-D
Delectables - Scott Chitwood of the Rampant
Mac claim to fame tripped over the bottle of
instant karma and created Accidental
Zen!
Personally, me thinks he just created another one of his
brilliant master pieces with his ever-so-skilled abilities
he is is known for.
Another
highly skilled pixelator is Bob
Wiley with Is
It There. If he's talking about the
Monkie Master's brain, we all the know the answer
to that. Regarding this great new pic? It's right
on target!
Etc... -
Not knowing the gators from the crocs (or even how
to tie my Velcro shoes at times), we'll call the latest
from James
Naylor a
nice toothy Alligator.
This cool dude may very well keep the creepies away
from your desktop duties while you're out and about
in your digital world.
There's
only one cool cat that doesn't appear affected by
the toothiness of our previous critter and that would
be Old
Man Kitty from Colin
Kerr. This fine feline simply kicks back
and helps you relax with a laid back attitude
of no other kind.
Nature -
If a picture paints a thousand words, not much needs
to be said about Lake from
Jack Juliussen, whose desktop grandeur graces the
galleries of Prevision.
What more can you say about an amazing desktop such
as this?
Finishing
up this Wednesday's update is a remake of a previous
work by Monkie Master Wiles with Shirley
Mountains. II. If you recall Shirley
Mountains,
it was a doctored up photo that was rather, well, dark.
Having fun with some layers and lighting effects, this
new pic lightened things up quite a bit!
Enjoy!

Bite The Dust - The Banana may be an endangered

FOILED
AGAIN
One
night a police officer was staking out a particularly
rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing
time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb and try his
keys on five different cars before he found his. The man sat in the front seat
fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Meanwhile, all the other
patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began
to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. As soon as he pulled
onto the street, the officer stopped him, read him his rights and administered
the breathalyzer test to determine his blood-alcohol content. The results showed
a reading of 0.0. The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be. The
driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy."
THE
TROUBLE AT DELL
A Dell technician advised his customer to
put his troubled floppy back in the drive and close the
door. The customer asked the tech to hold on, and was then
heard putting the phone down, getting up and crossing the
room to close the door to his room.
Another
Dell customer needed help setting up a new program, so
a Dell tech suggested he go to the
local Egghead. "Yeah, I got me a couple of friends," the
customer replied. When told "Egghead" was a software
store, the man said, "Oh, I thought you meant for
me to find a couple of geeks."
Yet another Dell
customer called to complain that his keyboard no longer
worked. He had cleaned it by filling up his tub with soap
and water and soaking the keyboard for a day, then removing
all the keys and washing them individually.
