EA Design - EA Design has been busy
as usual with Ed crunching deadlines and Alan testing his brains
out. As always, they try to deliver new desktop work, and deliver
they do! How about 3 new 3-D and 3 new 2-D from both Ed and Alan
- a total of 12 new desktops to choose from! In addition, they
are adding a new "About Us" page. Keep your eyes peeled
and check out the new work at EA

New Miss Universe -
The new Miss Universe

At The Top
Bump Up The Bandwidth:
1.5 GHz G4's? - The
Register reports that Apple is expected to release
boosted bandwidth in new G4 Macs this July. Frequencies on new
G4 machines are expected to be raised to 1.5 GHz in processor
speeds.
Not all agree, however. Some sources
say to expect nothing greater than a 1.2 GHz machine. Whatever
Apple is able to muscle up, they should appear at the Macworld
Expo in July.
MonkieNews!
MacMonkies 7th Icon Edition - For our 7th Icon

artists. Dig in!
MAJArch Studios - From
Melissa of MAJArch
Studios comes Monsters Inc.,
a delightful set of icons from the movie of the same name.
From her vast collection of artistic works,
it's plain to see that Melissa is big on entertainment. But she
is also big on patriotism as one can see in her USA
Icons set!
Flax Creations - Dan
Flax, ResExcellence
GUI editor and creator of Flax
Creations, delivers perhaps his finest icon work to date
with FraXtal Buttons.
DV Graphics - DV Graphics'
Paul Sahner brings your icon experience to new heights with Urban View! This fine icon collection
includes renditions of the America's monumental skyscrapers including
the former World Trade Center.
Happicon - Rene
gives your desktop a permanent icon grin with Funny Ones! This set comes from many a smile of Rene's fine
collection at Happicon.
Pixel Jerk
- I dare say that we have saved the best for last (for fear the
other iconists will eat me alive), but it is easy to see why
the modestly titled (Untitled) Folders
is one of Pixel Jerk's
most popular icon sets. This exceptional set includes 35 simple
but amazing icons from Mr. Samuel Krueger.
Check 'em out!
Desktop Deluxe: 6 New
Desktops In The Gallery - This week brings a nice mix of colors and styles
to your desktop experience. Let's dig in!
Dux The Desktop -
MAJArch Studios'
Melissa shows her patriotic flare by muscling up with Rosie The Riveter.
Returning for an encore performance is Bob Spence with a
wonderful arrangement of colors with his winning piece titled
Ribbons!
3-D Deluxe!
- Kara Kelly's aqua isle redux
is the second of "dux" of her aqua paradise residing
at Kara-Kelly.com.
The forces that hinder our every move inspire
Alan Sherwood of EA Design
to create Our Cage, the "fraternal
twin" to another of Alan's fine works titled Your
Cage.
Also in the redux department is the electrifying
work from MacMonkies appropriately charged as C
Moon Storm.
Storming in for the final selection from
MacMonkies is Brain Storm,
indicative of the power of a thought left unspoken.

Antitrust Antics - Microsoft is offering a new update
for Windows XP in an attempt to win it good graces in the antitrust
case. Windows XP Service Pack 1, the software patch, allows users
to set many more of their own default programs, including web
browsers. The software patch is being sent to over 10,000 beta
testers, and should be available by summer's end. Microsoft is
also planning to share its code with other programmers soon."

Air Fair? - Joe Archer of Australia had to take
a cab 1,240 miles to get home because the
airline he was flying with wouldn't let him on without a care
giver. Archer is in a wheel chair and was flying alone. The airline
did let him fly from Adelaide to Brisbane alone, but enforced
their policy on the return trip, leaving police to find a cab
driver that would take Archer from Brisbane back to Adelaide.
Cab driver Ken Marshall agreed. The taxi ride cost Archer US$
3000 total. - from IWon
Liverpool Legacy - The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool
has begun an exhibit of Paul McCartney's art. They are showing
70 paintings which reflect things such as landscapes and flowers.
Some paintings include the titles "Bowie Spewing" (David
Bowie getting sick) and "Hottest Linda" (Linda McCartney
sunbathing). McCartney commented that he "used to come here
as a schoolboy. If I had said to John then, 'I'm going to have
an exhibition here one day,' I think I know what he would have
said. I'll leave it to your imagination." We can just Imagine.

Flying Hinders Flying - A Romanian airport has been shut
down due to a flight problem - too
many fruit flies in flight! A nearby housing area was sprayed
with insecticide to get rid of the flies, so the flies gathered
at the Otopeni Airport , the largest airport in Romania. Tons
of flies started getting into the planes' engines and parts causing
them to operate incorrectly. It is not yet known how authorities
will get rid of the flies. Sounds
a bit flighty to me. - from

Have you Heard?
New And Old Sites - As we mentioned earlier in the week, "a very
reliable source has informed MacMonkies" that the Sultan
of Swing, the Godfather of GOO (perhaps just slightly
exaggerated), Scott Chitwood and the Rampant
Mac are scheduled for a mid-summer return to the cyber waves
in a browser near you! As soon as a final date is available,
we'll toss the Banana your way!
Also scheduled for a return in a new
sort of way is a master of theming and no new dog on the block
- The Doghouse's
Michael Rabe. Michael is burying the old bone and firing
a new place called InstoSoft.
He has given us the tiniest of teasers of the new place and it
is also thought to be a summer debut. You can take a peak at
the new location at:

WARNING!
What's another name for the "Intel
Inside" sticker they put on Pentiums?
The warning label.
MODERN DAY MOSES
A teacher was telling her nursery school
class about Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. She told them
it was a long time ago and paper had not even been invented.
So she asked the class how Moses was able to remember all that
God told him on Mount Sinai. A four year old replied, "He
saved it on a disk."
PATCH OF ALL AIDES
To mend a jack-o-lantern you need a pumpkin
patch.
COMPUTOOLONG
You know you've been on the computer too
long when you get in the elevator and double-press the button
for the floor you want.
MAD MONEY
What do you get when you cross a Pentium
PC with a research grant?
A mad scientist.
MURPHY'S LAWS OF COMPUTING
When computing, whatever happens, behave
as though you meant it to happen.
When you get to the point where you really
understand your computer, it's probably obsolete.
The first place to look for information
is in the section of the manual where you least expect to find
it.
When the going gets tough, upgrade.
For every action, there is an equal and
opposite malfunction.
To err is human. To blame your computer
for your mistakes is even more human, it is downright natural.
He who laughs last probably made a back-up.
If at first you do not succeed, blame your
computer.
A complex system that does not work is invariably
found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just
fine.
The number one cause of computer problems
is computer solutions.
A computer program will always do what you
tell it to do, but rarely what you want it to do.
COMPUTER CONFUSION
A confused caller was having troubles printing
documents. He told the technician that the computer had said
that it ''could not find the printer.'' The user had even tried
turning the computer screen to face the printer-but his computer
still could not "see" the printer.
FIXING A HOLE
A passerby noticed a couple of city workers
working along the city sidewalks. The man was quite impressed
with their hard work, but he couldn't understand what they were
doing. Finally, he approached the workers and asked, "I
appreciate how hard you're both working, but what the heck are
you doing? It seems that one of you digs a hole, and then the
other guy immediately fills it back up again. One of the city
workers explained, "The third guy who plants the trees is
off sick today."
