At The Top
Apple's
Jaguar Found In Fortune
- Fortune magazine has named Apple's new Operating system, Jaguar, the "most
impressive new software." The reason it makes the difference,
according to Fortune, is because of networking. "Macs have
long had file compatibility with Windows software, but now they
have network compatibility too." iCal and iSync were especially
impressive in terms of the programs' networking capabilities.
iCal and iSync only work with Jaguar. - from Fortune
Apple And Dell:
A New Kind of Juice?
- Dell Computer has just added the Windows
version of Apple's iPod to their store. Dell already sells other
brands of MP3 players, but Dell customers started asking for
Apple's iPod. The lure was so great that Dell agreed to sell
them. "Yep, Dell is reselling iPods," said Apple. The
iPods are now available for order online
from Dell. -

Apples For The
Holidays -
It is time to start thinking about holiday gifts and Apple has
accommodated
the public with a holiday shopping guide. The front page sports
the top ten favored gifts list along with prices. Apple understands
that every person has different interests, so on the front page
they also offer search lists by price, personality type, and
digital lifestyle (music, movies or photo). Of course, there
is a general search as well, and all items can be ordered online.

Macs Make Small Business Success - Doug Humphrey is a
self-made multimillionaire who recently made the Mac move. His
company Cidera, which provides broadband services via satellite,
was spending too much money to keep Windows running. "We
forced everyone to go to Macs for the desktops," he said,
and "the support load dropped to almost nothing. We avoid
the Windows operating system since it is such a huge security
risk." The 42-year-old also owns a Navy warship that is
navigated and hooked up to the internet with Macs. - from Wired
Driving USA: Top Selling Tour - Paul McCartney ended his
North American tour in Phoenix, Arizona on October 29. The tour
contained 50 dates total and grossed about $100 million. This
may be the top grossing tour of 2002, the highest grossing stop
being two nights in Las Vegas which brought in $5.6 million.
Still, McCartney says "the main thing is the audiences are
having fun." There are some dates left in Mexico and Japan,
and there is talk of scheduling some possible 2003 dates for
Europe and Australia. -

School of Apples - Apple has teamed up with MacCenter
to open a hands-on Apple Authorized Training Center (AATC) in
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The staff is Apple-certified and the
curriculum focuses on Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2). The curriculum,
which Apple helped develop, is carried out on the latest greatest
Macs available. Registration is open for user level as well as
technical level users. Information can be found at MacCenter's

Dump That Candy Cavity For Cash - Dr. Stephen Berger,
a dentist in Santa Rosa, California, offers kids an alternative to eating
candy during the Halloween season. He pays them one dollar a
pound if they choose to sell him their candy, and then enters
them in a contest to win a new bike. Berger's goal is to promote
good dental hygiene. He has run the program since 1984, and some
kids save candy all year round to sell to him. In his biggest
year he got 1,953 pounds of candy. Berger hauls all the candy
straight to the dump.
Sounds like the dump will need a trip to the dentist! - from

Have you Heard?
10.2.2 Has Yet
To Sprout -
A couple weeks back, several sources reported that Mac OSX 10.2.2
had been seeded to developers and was expected for public release
within a couple of weeks. That couple of weeks has been here
and gone. However, Maury McCown at RAILhead
Design brings a little bit of hopeful news by reporting that
"OS X 10.2.2 6F19 was made available over the weekend, and
there's a good chance we'll be seeing a Golden Master this week."

IT'S ALL RELATIVE
There was a woman
who was pregnant with twins, and shortly before they were due,
she had an accident and went into a coma. Her husband was away
on business, and unable to be reached. While in the coma, she
gave birth to her twins, and the only person around to name her
children was her brother. When the mother came out of her coma
to find she had given birth and that her brother had named the
twins, she became very worried, because he wasn't a very bright
guy. She was sure he had named them something absurd or stupid.
When she saw her brother she asked him about the twins.
He said, "The
first one was a girl.
"The mother:
"What did you name her?!?"
Brother: "Denise!"
The Mom: "Oh,
wow, that's not bad! What about the second one?"
Brother: "The
second one was a boy."
The Mom: "Oh,
and what did you name him?"
Brother: "Denephew."
RIGHT ON THE
HEAD
An old blacksmith
realized he was soon going to quit working so hard. He picked
out a strong young man to become his apprentice. The old fellow
was crabby and exacting. "Don't ask me a lot of questions,"
he told the boy. "Just do whatever I tell you to do."
One day the old
blacksmith took an iron out of the forge and laid it on the anvil.
"Get the hammer over there," he said. "When I
nod my head, hit it real good and hard."
Now the town is
looking for a new blacksmith.
WELCOME TO THE
JUNGLE
A hungry lion was
roaming through the jungle looking for something to eat. He came
across two men. One was sitting under a tree reading a book;
the other was typing away on his typewriter. The lion quickly
pounced on the man reading the book and devoured him. Even the
king of the jungle knows that readers digest and writers cramp.

FLYING HIGH?
Flying high with
its mother, the baby pigeon said, "I can't make it. I'll
get too tired."
His mother said,
"Don't worry. I'll tie a piece of string to one of your
legs and the other end to mine."
The baby started
to cry.
"What's wrong?"
said the mother.
"I don't want

DOWN TO EARTH
A bunch of cows
and bulls are standing in a field. A huge gust of wind comes
along and all the cows fall over, but the bulls just stand there,
bracing themselves against the gale. So all the cows stand up
and brush themselves off and go back to their business.
Pretty soon, a tornado
blows through and all of the cows are knocked to the ground,
but the bulls just munch on the grass.
Next, a hurricane
comes through and all the cows are knocked into the next pasture.
The bulls just say "moo."
Finally, one of
the cows walks up to one of the bulls and says, "Moo? What's
the mooing deal? How come the wind always knocks us for a loop
and you just stand there unharmed?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
the bull replies. "We bulls wobble, but we don't fall down."
