At The Top
Don't
Bug My Mac!
- London company mi2g recently
did a study that showed the Mac Operating System
to be one of the least susceptible to viruses. The Mac OS had
only "0.05 percent of all attacks in 2002," while Windows
had 54 percent of the attacks. Most viruses are directed toward
the C drive, which Macintosh does not have. Mac OS X users can
keep their Macs more secure by installing firewalls and watching
out for viruses which are disguised as Microsoft Office attachments.
- from
NewsFactor
Issa
1.0 - We
were just informed that Stick
Software has released Issa
1.0, a fun new OS X application that provides you with
a virtual "fridge poetry" set, just like the magnetic
set you probably have on your own fridge. Issa is better, though;
you can change fonts, styles and colors, use different word lists
tailored to your poetic needs, and export your finished poems
as text, HTML or images to share with your friends or post on
the web. You'll never need your fridge again...except to store
food. Make a date with Issa
and check it out!
FontAgent Pro - Just released from Insider Software is
FontAgent
Pro, the most modern, powerful,
and complete font management and repair software to ever hit
the market. FontAgent Pro is the world's first Mac OS X native
font management and repair software. This great app for Mac repairs
corrupt fonts, takes care of unnecessary fonts, and builds font
libraries. There is so much this software will do and it stands
up to the competition and then some! Get all the details and
give your fonts the attention they need with FontAgent
Pro.

NEW! 8 New Desktops
In The Gallery
- Good golly
Miss Molly! We've grabbed some fine Desktop selections and gathered
them together in the Gallery for a
great eye grabbin' good time! Let's grab a gander!
Nature - The lone selection in
our Nature Department is Lone Flower
by Colin Kerr.
This beautiful selection sports Colin's photography abilities
and brings the great outdoors direct to your desktop. Everybody
say "AWESOME!"
Desktop
Department! -
Apparently, no one ever accused Rampant
Mac's Scott Chitwood of thinking normal (thank goodness!).
Scott demonstrates the idea with the far out and funky piece
called Think Way Different.
The awe inspiring work from the Rampant 1 is guaranteed to drop
a jaw or 3 and is sure to be a classic!
Our next selection
comes from the talents of Peter
J. Sucy. Don't limit TroutwDocks
to just a quick glance! Look deep into this excellent
work and you are certain to find more than meets the eye. Bet
we'll catch you gazing at this incredible work for quite some
time!
Another desktop
that is worth a second look is Aqua
III. This great piece by EA
Design's Alan Sherwood is number 3 in his Aqua series. You'll
find this work amazing in its ability to draw you in to its seemingly
invisible depths. But another glance will take you away.
3-D Delectables
- It's been a while
since we've heard from Mikaware's
Michele Bugliaro. But with this next pic, it was worth the wait!
Michele dabbles his hand in Bryce with a touch of Photoshop and
out comes the excellence of UFOpsi
1. Michele's modesty claims this to be a simple task,
but it certainly is not easy taking your eyes off of this wonderful
work.
Yet another welcome
face to return to the Monkie house is Kara Kelly, the master
mind behind the grind at Kara-Kelly.com.
The yumminess of Fruition
displays the fruits of Kara's affectionate attention to bright
beautiful colors.
The MacMonkies Bananas Man Ron
Westby just keeps crankin' out his great abilities with another
fine work titled The Forgotten.
You're sure to add this fine piece to your collections where
it won't soon be forgotten.
Wrapping
up this week's pixel picnic is the old fart himself, Monkie Man
Bradford Wiles. Realizing he ain't getting any younger, it was
decided he should be put Out To Play!
This cool collection of pixels took a little longer than normal
as it went through many phases in Bryce, and continued its morphing
with Photoshop filters and additional touch-ups. Enjoy!

Old Macs Never Die - Mac aquariums are becoming
more and more popular. Steve Jobs himself is reported to have
some iMac aquariums, and Jay Leno has one too. The idea became
popular in 1992 when Mac columnist Andy Inhatko suggested making
an aquarium out of a reader's Mac as a joke, and eventually posted
a guide on how to do it. Carl Blake, who built Jay Leno's aquarium,
sells 35-50 aquariums every month through MacAquarium.

Like A Good Neighbor, Apple Is there - Apple has confirmed
its participation in the San Francisco Macworld Expo held at
the Moscone Center on January 6-10, 2003. "We'll be there,
and we're fully committed to making Macworld San Francisco a
great experience for everyone," said Apple CEO, Steve Jobs.
Jobs will give the keynote address on January 7 at 9:00 a.m.

You Said WHAT?!?! - Apple has added a glossary
of computer terms to their Knowledge
Base. The glossary has "more than you could ever possibly
want to know" and contains terms for computer users at all
different levels. Examples of terms at the beginner level are
"Backspace-To move the cursor to the left," and "Case-The
outer covering of the computer." The definitions of more
advanced terms, such as "Cache Memory" and "TCP

Dirty
Diaper Disposal - Santa Clarita, California has become the
first US city to begin a recycling program for dirty diapers.
The program will cost them $500,000, but officials are hoping
it will cut down on the waste disposal. Right now Americans dispose
of 20 billion diapers a year, equaling 7 billion pounds of garbage.
The recycled diapers will be turned into "oil filters, roof
shingles and vinyl siding."

I tend to laugh at guy things. So, if you tend to steer clear

LESS THAN EXTRA
How many letters
are there in the alphabet?
Twenty-four, because
E.T. went home.
RIGHT IN THE
NOSE
I am not a believer
in seances, but I went to one just to see what they are like.
The psychic was doing his thing and grinning from ear to ear.
I assumed his merriment was due to the fact that he was fooling
a gullible public and gave him a poke in the nose. You can probably
guess the rest: I was arrested for striking a happy medium.
NO HELP HERE?
What do you call
Santa's Helpers?
Subordinate clauses!
THE SHORT WAY
HOME
A police car pulls
up in front of grandma Bessie's house, and grandpa Morris gets
out. The polite policeman explained that this elderly gentleman
said that he was lost in the park and couldn't find his way home.
"Oh Morris,"
said grandma, "You've been going to that park for over 30
years! So how could you get lost?"
Leaning close to
grandma, so that the policeman couldn't hear, Morris whispered,
"Lost I wasn't... I was just too tired to walk home."
SANTA'S CLAUSE
What does Santa
call his wife at tax time?
A dependent Claus.
E - I, E-I, OH!!
A farmer was milking
his cow. He was just starting to get a good rhythm going when
a bug flew into the barn and started circling his head. Suddenly,
the bug flew into the cow's ear. The farmer didn't think much
about it, until the bug squirted out into his bucket. It went
in one ear and out the udder.
