New Updates! - Here's a couple new updates that came out after this week's post:

September 26 - October 2, 2001

A Perfect X - Apple announced the release of Mac OSX 10.1 to be available this Saturday, October 29th. The much anticipated update is reported to have significant improvements over previous versions. Along with the new version, Apple has announced "that more than 1,400 third-party applications are now available for Mac OS X version 10.1." Current users of OSX can upgrade "free" for $19.95 (the fee covers shipping and handling). If one would prefer speedier delivery, they can opt for overnight or 2nd day delivery for an additional fee.

Too Legit to Quit - Napster, the all too familiar internet music rebel, is nearing its day of "legitimacy." Napster will soon charge a fee for their service. They have reached a settlement in which they will pay $26 million for the music they have used without permission, but songwriters and music publishers will be able to license their music with Napster. Though Napster has not yet reached a settlement with the Recording Industry Association of America, the group which led major efforts to have Napster turned off, their chief executive, Konrad Hilbers, says the new Napster membership service will be available before the end of this year.

MonkieNews - Here's the latest in the Jungle Gym at MacMonkies:

  • We are pleased to feature a second installment of work by Mr. Todd Darland. This week's desktop is entitled Blue Moon.
  • MacMonkies has two new creations in the Gallery: Which and Coke.
  • Next week we will set an absolute deadline for our...I can't tell you that now! Stop in next Wednesday and take a peek!
  • We have added Page 3 in our Desktop area. My how things grow when you're havin' fun.
  • Last Wednesday we had a record number of visitors in a single day since MacMonkies opened its doors!! Thank you VERY much!

Bad Apples - The opening of the Apple Store at the The Shops of Saddle Creek in Germantown, TN, has been postponed. Apple has not revealed why the opening of the store has been postponed, but they have had trouble with their sign because Germantown does not allow food items on their signs and also does not allow internally illuminated signs. Apple wanted to use a picture of an apple on their sign and also use a sign that was illuminated. Apple has not yet given word of an alternate opening date for the Tennessee store. Somebody's being one sour apple. - from MacCentral

Hard Luck?? - An Australian man won the lottery by choosing the numbers off his hospital ID bracelet. He was in the hospital for breaking his leg, and now has split 3 million dollars (1.47 million U.S. dollars) with two other winners from New South Wales and Queensland states. He told reporters that everything seemed like a dream. - from Excite

Cool Cats - The average cat owner will tell you that their Kittypet is unusually talented or gifted. Though this may be true for some, an in depth study tells us otherwise. Cats seem to be very good communicators amongst themselves. It by this means they are able to pass traditions from generation to generation. Therefore, most cats are created equal. They have certain rules they live by. To view these common rules, CLICK HERE.

What's HOT! (Continued) - Last week MacMonkies reported that QPS-Inc. had announced the immediate availability of their new DVD Burner. However, Mac compatibility was still uncertain. MacMonkies contacted QPS and received the following information:

"If you do have the authoring software, the DVD Burner might work, but you would have to check with the manufacturer to see if that software supports the drive.

Yes, Roxio does have DVD burning capability. Our external Pioneer DVD drive does have Roxio software bundling now....this is current news to me."

Banana Bushel - Something is brewing in the back at the MacMonkies Coconut Palace. Maestro Monkie Head won't say a word. However, we're gonna keep pestering him until he spills the banana bunch. If indeed we do crack the coconut case, we will post it BEFORE the next update. Come on back now, ya hear?

HORMONE IMPROVEMENT

The Hormone Hostage knows that there are days in the month when all a man has to do is open his mouth and he takes his life in his hands.

This "Handy Hormone Hostage Guide" should be as common as a driver's license in the wallet of every husband, boyfriend, or significant other.

DANGEROUS: What's for dinner?
SAFER: Can I help you with dinner?
SAFEST: Where would you like to go for dinner?

DANGEROUS: Are you wearing THAT?
SAFER: Gee, you look good in brown.
SAFES! T: Wow! Look at you!

DANGEROUS: What are you so worked up about?
SAFER: Could we be overreacting?
SAFEST: Here's fifty dollars.

DANGEROUS: Should you be eating that?
SAFER: You know, there are a lot of apples left.
SAFEST: Can I get you a glass of wine with that?

And a personal favorite ...
DANGEROUS: What did you DO all day?
SAFER: I hope you didn't overdo today.
SAFEST: Y'know, I've always loved you in that robe.

 Editor's Notes

 Gotta Wear Shades!

Oh yeah! Sometimes the future's so bright, ya gotta where shades. Even then, I STILL can't see a thing.
As mentioned earlier, MacMonkies had more visitors on Wednesday than any single day before. One trend I am certainly beginning to see is people like to SMILE! It seems the more smiles we offer, the more people come back for more. We have certainly seen some hard times lately. But there is no better remedy than a good old fashioned ear-to-ear grin!
So, as always, a grin in what we will do our best to deliver. And hey! Don't be shy. Send us your happy material and we'll give it a whirl. The more the better. Head over to our About Page and send you contribution to the appropriate category. Let's pass that smile around!
Smell me later!
