Monkie News

Monkie EditorQuick Note - Just a quick note to let y'all know that we will be taking Sunday off for another quick breather. There's plenty of cool eye candy to drool upon from earlier this week. So feel free to browse around. And of course we will be back Monday with another round of fun. See you then!

Monkie Business

Odds and Ends

Dr. Die Young - If you wish to die young, make your physician your heir.

- Romanian Proverb

BagpiperPigpipes - These are bagpipes. I understand the inventor of the bagpipes was inspired when he saw a man carrying an indignant, asthmatic pig under his arm. Unfortunately, the man-made sound never equaled the purity of the sound achieved by the pig.

- Alfred Hitchcock

Thus It Is - Why is this thus? What is the reason of this thusness?

- Artemus Ward

PhoneDon't Call Us, We'll Call You - The Federal Trade Commission will be opening a website this July in which people can register to block telemarketers. Anyone can register and the service will be free. "Charities, surveys and calls on behalf of politician"” are exempt, but those who register should no longer receive many calls from telemarketers. MonkAt The Top - Welcome to our 856th annual Weekly Wednesday Desktop Edition! Hmmm...you're not buying that for some strange reason. Well it is Wednesday and we do have another cool collection awesome art for the eyes begging for a look and a drool. Time for me to shuddup and your desktop to be cool. Let's boogie!

New GOO!

New Desktops - They've done it again! This week's Desktop artists have made the latest collection of 7 New Desktop selections a smash hit in the Gallery. Time to rock the house!

Different3-D Rendered - Just in from our latest contributor Juergen Eilts is an absolutely eye-popping piece called Different. This is one of the many marvelous works from the galleries of ShiftedReality. Juergen is a big Mac fan and uses the likes of Bryce, Vue d'Esprit, Worldbuilder, and 3D Studio Max. Awesome stuff!

I must say, it's always nice to welcome the vivid imagination of one Mr. Scott Chitwood from Rampant Mac. This week we have Visions Bright, so bright, ya gotta wear shades! Me thinks it almost looks like a scene from the Jetsons. I wonder what Scott does in his spare time. =)

Fern Up-Close 2Nature - Another home run selection from Michael Heath is the totally amazing photo Fern Up-Close 2. Michael sends this beautiful selection from "Down Under" in Australia. There's no doubt that this desktop will put you in nature heaven once you get a closer look!

Desktops - Mr. Fuzzy himself, the ever-original Bob Wiley, gets in touch with the blues and brings us Feel the Blue. Bob tackles the textural type approach for a very unique effect. I just hope that is not new age mold! =)

Dark SkiesBack once again from the galleries of Prevision is Jack Juliussen with another of his desktop specialties titled Dark Skies. This spectacular work sports the sun transforming the darkest of clouds into a radiant work of art!

It's been a while since we've seen the spectaculars of Glenn Fajardo. But we have a treat for you! B1-62L-9 is quite the unique piece that, quite honestly, this Monkie doesn't know how to describe...except by saying WAY COOL! This symmetrical surprise for the eyes is just the right size.

Meltdown IIFrom the melted brain cells of MacMonkies' Bradford Wiles comes Meltdown II, a spin-off of last weeks Outta Here. The viewpoint is different with the Punk still visible (if you caught him last week) and the rest went through quite a few processes via Photoshop. Enjoy!

Thanks Department --

Juergen, Glenn, Bob, Scott, Jack, and Michael...

Your work is simply AMAZING!

THANKS!!

SafariSafari Standstill - Apple's Safari Seed program has been canceled. During the testing versions 60, 62 and 64 were all circulated a great deal. GROSS COMMUNICATION

What do you get when you cross a centipede with a parrot?

A walkie-talkie.

THE WRONG BIRD

One Thanksgiving a friend and I were walking down a main street in Albany when a man comes up to me and gives me a turkey and says, "Happy Thanksgiving!" Without hesitation my friend knocks him out. I asked my friend why he punched the nice man. My friend said, ''He gave you the bird!"

PARACHUTE CRAP SHOOT

Four people are in an airplane: The President, the smartest man in the world, an old man and a young girl. The plane catches on fire and there are only three parachutes.

The president gets one and says, "My country needs me!" and jumps.

The smartest man in the world grabs one and says, “Well, the world needs me, since I'm so smart," and jumps.

One parachute left and the old man says, "You take it, my life is almost over anyway."

The little girl says, "No. We both can jump."

Confused, the man asks, "How?"

The little girl says, "The smartest man in the world took my backpack."

 Editor's Notes

Old Monkie

I think I am
getting old...
Or at least
showing signs of ageing. A lot of
poopy stuff has
been going on --
from the
Monkie Den to
world wide events. But for some reason,
this Monkie hasn't
blown a cork. I have
learned, I guess, to
pick my battles. I
certainly wish I could
have realized this
years ago.

And now I see that
there's no real point
to what I am saying
here...so I guess that means I am
rambling...
ANOTHER sign
of old age!!!

OK! Nighty night!
