Monkie -
Happy Weekend folks! There's a couple things I want
to shoot your way to keep you up to banana as to
the happenings here at the Monkie Parlour.
First
up, the Monkie Poll regarding
your interest in the Weekend Updates indicates a warm
welcome to our furry weekend friend. So, the Weekend
Updates will stay. We also had nice some correspondence expressing some very kind input. Thank you, Monkie Readers!
Next,
a new poll will be posted on Monday. This one will be
a bit on the different side, one to make you think. I
will leave you hanging there on that vine. =)
Finally,
I will begin a new job on Monday, so there is a slight
possibility of some burps and bumps during the transition
from one job to the next. This transition should only
affect the timeliness of our updates, if at all. You
may see a blurry-eyed Monkie here and there, but the
show is scheduled to go on as normal.
With
all the above goin' down, I will let you get back to
hanging out and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The Top: Some Serious Business -
Woo hoo! It's FINALLY Friday! And that means cool
new icons and tons of fun for our Friday Icon Edition.
But before we continue, I must slip into something
a bit more serious for a moment and address an important
issue.
I
was recently contacted by icon artist Hein Mevissen
and informed that he found his icons had been used in
an application by a commercial company -- WITHOUT his
permission. Yes, you guessed it. This is NOT acceptable.
Though the company has decided to "negotiate" with Hein
thanks to the help from a well respected member of the
Mac community, the situation never, never should have
occurred.
Let's
cut to the chase. There's a lot of cool GUI stuff (icons,
desktops, etc.) here at MacMonkies as well as
the rest of the net. If you want to use it for purposes
other than what the author has expressed -- especially
if it is for profit -- it is your responsibility to contact
the
author and get permission. It's only fair considering
the time
that artists spend making their work. Let's all stick
together in our community and work as a team. Okay?
Now
it's time for some SERIOUS FUN! Let's Boogie!!!

New
GOO!
New Icons -
Fresh up for our Friday Icon Edition are
4 fabulous Icon Sets from four fantastic artists. Wipe
the drool from your mouths as you let your eyes do the

Evan
Weber - From his Web(er) place on the web,
Evan
Weber sends a standard OSX hard drive modified
for a wild ride! WildDrives features
a couple of cool cats and an unduked dog to watch
over your driving x-perience!
RAD.E8 -
Sascha Höhne of RAD.E8 continues
to make the best even better with SNOW.E
2 JAGUAR, a flavorful selection from
his hit SNOW.E 2 series. This installment sports the spots
of Jaguar with plenty of class and style. Groovin'!
Pictures
and Adicons -
Adam Dickson is back from Pictures
and Adicons with
yet another amazing icon set titled Adicons
mk3. This collection will take you from
the virtual reality of nicely placed pixels to the
pictures of real world reality!
miX
the piX -
The Master miXer Hein Mevissen ensures this icon edition
the grandest of finales with DarkAge.
This latest creation from the castle of miX
the piX will
take you back to a different age and style your desktop
with due dignity! Enjoy!

A
REAL WRECK
A judge was punishing three men because they had committed
a crime. Their sentence was a few years in the desert.
He said that they could each take one thing with them. The
first guy decides to take an umbrella, so that he can
have shade whenever he wants.
The second guy decides to take
a water bottle so that he won't get thirsty.
Finally,
the third guy decides to take a car door. The judge asked, "Why
in the world would you want to take a car door?"
The
man replies, "Just in
case it gets hot, I can roll down the window."
FROM DUSK TILL...DUH!
I was up all night wondering where the sun went. Then
it dawned on me.
JUST TOO
MUCH
Three
men are waiting at the hospital for their wives to
have babies. After what seems an eternity,
the nurse finally walks into the waiting room and goes
up to the first guy and says "Congratulations sir,
your wife just had twins!" "Wow, this is great!" he
exclaims, "And, what
a coincidence, I work at Twin City Federal!"
A
half hour later the nurse comes back into the waiting
room,
approaches the second guy and says "Congratulations
sir, your wife just had triplets!"
"Are you
serious?!" he replies, "This is the greatest
day of my life! Gosh, what a coincidence, I work
at 3M!"
At
this moment the third guys says "That's it, I'm
outta here!" The second guy asks why. The third
guy says "I work at 10,000 Auto Parts!"

New Desktops -
WHOA! There's tons of cool GUI this week in the
form of 8 New Desktops that are worth their weight in
Gold! Let's get right down to it and let the eyes have
it!
Desktops -
Ready to get wound up? Adam Dickson from Pictures
and Adicons returns with a retro number Wind-Up
Camera.
Serving up his photographic specialties, Adam sports an
old standard 8 wind-up camera in high class quality!
Always
able to quip a quote of encouragement is PoulosDesign's Stefan
Poulos. This week Stefan cites Mark Twain in Twain,
reminding us that it's worse to look back and regret
what we haven't done rather than what we have. COOL!
Nature -
Zooming in on our Nature Department is another close-up
shot from Michael Heath with Fern
Close-Up 3. This great selection is yet
another one of Michael's masterful works from behind
the lens
in Australia.
Etc. -
Always the wild for his Mac, Mr.
Wiley (Bob,
that is) really makes a difference with Patterns
3. Bob gets really creative with his latest
contribution and your Mac is sure to be thankful with
this Mac OS desktop!
From
Peter J.
Sucy comes quite the artistic work titled Ariel.
It's from a digital photo he took at a workshop and
has been manipulated using Studio Artist and Photoshop.
Gorgeous gal, this one is. PHEW!
3-D
Rendered - Sometimes you gotta BEG to get the
best. And sometimes you just gotta say Please!
At least that's the title of our latest entry from Alan
Sherwood of burntcanvasdesign. This cool landscape desktop
sports the simple awe of Alan's abilities and leaves
you wanting more.
Another
absolutely amazing landscape work is that of Tribute from
ShiftedReality.
Juergen Eilts created this glowing piece with Vue d'Esprit
4.1. It's hard to believe that this piece isn't a bit
of real reality. Excellent work!
Mr.
Monkie Bradford Wiles has been adding gobs of goop to previous
works and found that once it gets started, It's
Growing! It
sometimes comes as a surprise how a single work such
as Stressed and Crawl I can make the metamorphosis into
many. Enjoy!
Thanks

BOOT NOTE
He was an inventor of note. He created a big shoe with
a phone in the heel. Now, he thought, he could use a phone
whenever he wanted. He made several more so that he could
have several shoes with phones in the house. One day, an
emergency came up and he needed a phone bad. Would you
believe it, he couldn't find a single phone boot.
WHO IS MARYLOU?!? A woman came up behind her husband while
he was enjoying his morning coffee and slapped him on
the back of the head.
"I found
a piece of paper in your pants pocket with the name 'Marylou'
written on it," she said, furious. "You
had better have an explanation."
"Calm down, honey," the man replied. "Remember
last week when I was at the dog track? That was the name
of the dog I bet on."
The
next morning, his wife snuck up on him and smacked him
again."What was that for?" he
complained.
"Your
dog called last night."
FORD MANUFACTURING
Q: Why does Ford still manufacture cars
and trucks?
A: Because
they are trying to keep the towing industry alive.

Desktops, Monkie Oops! - What day would tomorrow
be? Well our mid-week Wednesday Desktop Edition,
of course! And an ample amount of GUI goodness is what we
have in store. This week's works include desktop selections
from
ShiftedReality,
burntcanvasdesign,
Peter J. Sucy, Pictures and Adicons,
Michael Heath, PoulosDesign, and MacMonkies. All this great
GUI and more Monkie madness is just around the corner!
On
a different note, we found we made a boo-boo in last
week's Monkie
Business. We stated that "On
a Canadian two dollar bill, the flag flying over the
Parliament building is an American flag." One of our
readers was nice enough to inform us that "not only is
the current 2 dollar currency a coin, but the flag you
are referring to appears on the Canadian ten dollar bill.
Rather than an American flag, it is a part of the Union
Jack; representing Canada's ties to Great Britain." Oops!
Thanks to Malcolm for pointing this out to us!

THINGS
THAT MAKE A GORILLA GO HUH???!!!!!!
When
it rains, why don't sheep shrink?
Why

Why
do people who know the least know it the loudest?
If
a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?
If
a stealth bomber crashes in a forest, will it make

Why
is it that the probability of anything happening is in

Why
is it that floggings continue until morale improves?
