Yahoo Yodeler Settles In! - Apparently yodeler Wylie Gustafson's
voice carries quite a little Yahoo punch! Gustafson recently
set out to sue Yahoo! for a whopping $5 million because he was
never paid for using his yodel in the Yahoo! commercials. However,
neither Gustafson or Yahoo Inc. will be singing the blues as
the case has already been settled for an undisclosed amount.
Gustafson was quite pleased and Yahoo! was happy that they "did
the right thing." Ain't no cryin' in

News On The Net...
Gotta Have It! - Really! The University of Texas will
begin requiring people who want to major in Education to have Apple Powerbooks
this Fall. The machines must be University approved or students
cannot enroll in the Education program. The computers must be
Apple computers and they must have certain software to qualify.
Apple was chosen because they offered cheap rates and tech support
for the students. The University hopes that their teachers will
become more proficient on computers as well as incorporate technology
into their classrooms. - from Austin
American Statesman
Gates in the Hot Seat - Bill Gates was put on the hot
seat in the antitrust settlement case shortly after noon on Monday. Gates
showed the court slides projecting the harm that the states'
remedies would do to consumers, the PC Industry and to Microsoft.
Of Microsoft, Gates said, "It would be difficult for Microsoft
to create an 'unbound' version of Windows." He also expressed
his concern with people being able to clone the Windows OS if
Microsoft has to "give away the recipe." Microsoft
would then be, according to Gates, "greatly devalued as
a company." Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly will have the final
say as to the states' remedies. Who would
want a recipe on how to fry a computer? -
from MacCentral
Smells Like Mean Spirit? - The remaining members of the
band Nirvana are trying to get a court order for a psychiatric
evaluation of Courtney Love, the late Kurt Cobain's wife. They
think she is making bad business decisions by "holding back"
Nirvana's unreleased material. Love signed a business agreement
with the two band members after the death of her husband, but
now wants the agreement to be dissolved, claiming her judgment
was "significantly impaired" at the time. Remaining
band members, Krist Novoselic and David Grohl are requesting
the evaluation in order to show that Love is incompetent in making
business decisions. - from Excite
Planet of the Apes! - While tourists were innocently browsing
souvenir shops in Japan
recently, a monkey jumped right in through an open car door and
was helping itself to a tourist's belongings. The monkey was
lured out of the car with a banana. Monkeys often cause traffic
hazards in Japan by trying to jump into car windows. Some even
sit on the hoods of cars and demand food. Monkeys are also accused
of destroying $7 million of crops per year. They are not only
growing in population, but they are also getting physically bigger
and bigger. As a result, Japan has begun capturing and sterilizing
male monkeys. Come on now! Monkies just want
have fun! - from NYTimes.com
Cell Symphony - Composer Simon Turner and writer Marcus
Moore are coming up with a "SIM-phone-ya." The British
men say they are so used to hearing cell phones going off all
the time that they thought it would be funny to write a symphony
using mobile phone tones. "SIM-phone-ya" is to be debuted
this coming July for thirty mobile phone owners. from Yahoo

Have you Heard?
Mac OSX Update: The Next Generation? - Word around
the rumor mills are abuzz with news that another update for Apple's
"next generation" Operating System - version 10.1.5
- could be just around the corner. Apparently there are Read
Me documents floating around that list the latest improvements
of the supposed update. Some of the sites that contained the
information have said to have been contacted by Apple's legal
department to remove the information.
Hardware Aware - Other buzz news has new Titanium PowerBooks
set to arrive next week. The models said to be on their way are:
667 MHz G4, 20 Gig HD, 256 Megs of RAM, with DVD/CD-RW
800 MHz G4, 40 Gig HD, 512 Megs of RAM, with DVD/CD-RW
Also mentioned at MacUser
is that the SuperDrive is now available as a build-to-order option
in the lower end Macs.

HELL OF A WHALE
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The
teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow
a human because even though a whale is a very large mammal, its
throat is very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed
by a whale. The teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow
a human, it was impossible. The little girl said, "When
I get to heaven I will ask Jonah." The teacher asked, "What
if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl replied, "Then
you ask him!"
PLAY BY EAR
A young man was trying to park his car between two others.
He put in reverse, and...Bang! Right into the car behind him.
He then went forward and...Bang! Right into the car in front.
A young woman watching the maneuver couldn't contain herself,
"Do you always park by ear?" she asked.
