Miscellaneous Monkie - G'Day folks! Just a few odds and ends to toss your direction.

1st up, you are now looking at a "new" page making use of CSS. If you don't know what this is, let's just say that for now you may notice a slight quicker load time and a few "bells and whistles." There's still bunches of work to do, but it's a start. You can all give Mr. B.J. Horn a big round of applause for the code work!

Next up, our Mail Server is currently down. If you have sent e mail in the last 24 hours and need it to contact us right away, you may want to resend it to:

Updated: The mail server is now back up and running.

And finally, I will be taking most if not all of next week off. I am moving to another tree (hopefully) and will need the time to move my Monkie stuff. There will be an update on Monday, but the rest of the week is uncertain at this time. I may sneak in an update or two, but nothing is certain past the Day of Mon. You are welcome to stop back and check in on us as I will squeeze something in if time allows.

Kelby's Notes - The folks at Proteron have just announced an amazing new tool for Photoshop called Kelby's Notes. This new release was developed by Proteron in conjunction with Scott Kelby of Photoshop fame adds a "How Do I?" menu to Adobe Photoshop containing answers to the most-asked Photoshop questions. Kelby's Notes is carefully written for any Photoshop user, in plain English, without the use of any "techno-jargon." How cool of a tool! burntcanvasdesign - He's back! The man from the colossal corners of burntcanvasdesign returns begging the question: did someone say threedy? And of course we all say YES! So Alan Sherwood obliges and gives us his fine feel for uniqueness at its best!

miX the piX - Giving this edition a stronger-than-steel, solid ending is Master miXer Hein Mevissen from miX the piX. Hein polishes up his third set in the Brushed series with Brushed 3.0. LIVER ALONE

A great dane, a brown lab, and a chiwawa were hanging out by a fire hydrant, when they saw a french poodle. They all agreed the french poodle was hot and decided to ask her out. Not sure which to choose, the french poodle said, "Whichever of you makes the best sentence out of the words 'liver and cheese' gets a date."

The great dane says, "I like liver and cheese."

The brown lab says, "I don't like liver and cheese."

Then the chiwawa says, "Liver alone, cheese mine!"

IRONING OUT THE DETAILS

One day an employee came into work with both of his ears bandaged. His boss asked him what happened to his ears.

"Yesterday I was ironing a shirt when the phone rang and I accidentally answered the iron instead of the phone!"

"Well," the boss said, "that explains one ear, but what about the other?"

"They called back!"

PHONE DETECTION

Once there was a detective who was just moving in to his new office. He heard a knock on the door. He wanted to make a good impression since he was new, so he pretended to be on the phone. The man waited patiently. The detective hung up. "As you can see, I'm very busy," said the detective. "What can I do for you?"

"Not much," replied the man. "I'm here to hook up your phone."

Apple To Offer Song Service Overseas - The wave of the future is hitting Europe! The music waves of the iTunes Music Store (iMS), that is. Apple is looking to expand Europe's music horizons through iMS just as they have done in the USA. They are negotiating things such as licensing and rights agreements and hope to have the music waves rolling overseas by the end of the year. The success of the store is expected to flow over since it has already shown overwhelming success in its first two weeks on the web. - from The Guardian and MacObserver

Go Granny Go - Gray hair should be no excuse for being a novice on the net. A UK charity named Age Concern is showing their concern about this by hosting a Silver Surfers Festival in which senior citizens can be trained in internet and e-mail use. It is a campaign to get more older folks online. The younger generation may be gurus when it comes to computers, but with all the companies and businesses going online these days, Grandmas and Grandpas need to be able to get on board - or online - too! - from BBC

At The Top - Woo hoo! Me thinks it's closer to the week's end. At Least it's time for the mid-week Wednesday Desktop Update! And that means some great Desktops, Community News, News On The Net, Bananas, and a blurry eye or three. So let's jump to the vine and swing from the tree. Shall we?

New GOO!

New Desktops - This week brings another set of wowzers with 7 fantazmotic New Desktops. Seemz to be somethin' about that set of seven. Let the Monkie shut up and get to desktop heaven!

Desktops - Swingin' into the Desktop Department is Bob Wiley with another of his desktop specialties. Ultima is a cool number that combines several techniques that he's developed over the months. An ultimate pic for your viewing enjoyment!

From the head Ed of EA Design comes Ten Miles High. Ed Allen continues to amaze the masses with his to-the-point, awe-inspiring, don't-you-mess-up-my-desktop style! We're just wonderin' if this one comes with a ten gallon hat!

Flippin' the desktop coin in the opposite direction is emk grafitti from Evan Kaufman. This explosive number from the pixel palace of EMKdesign will rock your desktop x-perience with bolts of volts! Electrifying!

 

Nature - For our single shot in the Nature Department is a beautiful composition from Prevision's Jack Juliussen. Gul Blomst (Yellow Flower) usher's in a fresh Springtime look for your desktop with Jack's ever inspiring abilities.

 

3-D Rendered - Shifting to different realities, we bring you tribute to jc from ShiftedReality. Talk about your ultimate tribute! Juergen Eilts really pours on his talent with this absolutely awesome selection created with Vue d'Esprit 4 and Photoshop 5. Amazing!

Scott Chitwood, the man with the hand in the GUI pan, steps straight up to the Pedestals and grabs up the GUI mic and announces...Well, I dunno what the master of Rampant Mac was mumblin', but this Monkie says that this classic number stands the test of GUI time!

Fillin' in the final slot is last minute number from the main Monkie Man Bradford Wiles. The Monkie thought he had a great pic from the early archives of Monkie madness, but found he couldn't find what he was looking for! So he whipped together Sky Stepped. Kind of amazin' what will come out under pressure...like a tomato underneath a truck tire! Enjoy!

Apple’s Got The Power - Apple has taken schools by storm, capturing another Codie award from the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) for its PowerSchool program. The software keeps schoolbodies and homebodies connected through the web. Student scores are posted online regularly so parents and principals can sneak a peek anytime. And since student progress can be tracked easily using PowerSchool, Apple is definitely doing its part to leave No Child Left Behind. - from Apple

Basket Ballistics - Jack Nicholson could have used some of his Anger Management therapy at the Lakers play-off game on Friday. He was severely arguing with referees over a foul that was called on Shaquille O'Neal in the second quarter. Refs even discussed throwing the actor out of the arena, but the Lakers public address announcer was afraid it could cause a riot. So Nicholson got to keep his $500 court side seat without so much as taking a time-out for his behavior. - from ABC

Live Pencil - Some sad news has crept into the community recently. Ramon G. Teja, master of smiles at Live Pencil, lost his mother due to illness this last week. As a result, there will be no update this week at Live Pencil. Our hearts go out to Ramon and family on this very sad event. We hope you're back soon sharing your smiles that make the web go 'round!
