Boy Oh Beethoven - As a child, Beethoven made
such a poor impression on his music teachers that he was pronounced
hopeless
as a
composer. Even
Haydn, who taught him harmony, did not recognize Beethoven's
potential genius.
Monkie Talk - Chimpanzees have been trained to
have recognition vocabularies of 100 to 200 words. They can
distinguish among different
grammatical patterns. - So what's my excuse?

Ads Impress Adweek - Adweek is impressed
with the simple complexity of the
Apple iTunes ads. They point out that these plain ads
feature music, something all viewers
can relate to. The similar Switcher ads didn't
have that. The Switcher ads showed real people instead
of actors, but carried ill feelings for some PC viewers.
Adweek also notes that since the success of the iTunes
Music Store has shot through the roof, the tail is
really wagging the dog with these simple yet effective
ads. - from Adweek
The Hand
Is Quicker Than The Mouse -
Fingerworks has found a way to let your fingers do
the cursing instead of your mouth...er, rather your
mouse! After appropriate hand gestures are acquired,
sort-of
like learning a mouse pad sign language, tasks are
performed using a specific sensory mouse pad. The feel
of the fingers can input data up to twice as fast as
a mouse can. It also takes a load off the clicking
finger which prevents the pain suffered by strained
hand and wrist muscles. - from Wired

At The Top -
Eeeeewwww! It's only Wednesday and things still smell a bit
funny. Guess that means it's time to do a quick refresh with
our weekly Wednesday Desktop Edition. I know...You already
knew this. You ain't no dummy! But for the benefit of dumb
Monkies like me, it means some great new Desktops, Community
News, and Bananas too. So get your fingers outta your nose
and let's get on with the show!
New GOO!
New Desktops -
When it comes to great wallpaper works, this new batch of
7 Desktops will keep your monitor shining for some time to
come. No sense in letting the Monkie mouth run amuck...Let's
get right down to the GUI business!
Desktops -Though
Apple's Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh was not the greatest
success, the latest entry in our Desktop Department is
sure to be! Sinister Dexter gives you a glimpse of this
classic Mac with TAM
Desktop and of course his desktop skills that
speak for themselves.
Another
great piece of quotation marks our desktop mid section with Brown from
PoulosDesign. Stefan
Poulos cites H. Jackson Brown with a quote that reminds us
that from Pasteur
to Einstein, we all are given the same amount of time to
accomplish our goals.
And shining its light at the end of the tunnel
is...well, Tunnel from
Prevision - Wallpaper
Take Away. Jack Juliussen adds this cool selection to your
Desktop collection and me thinks your desktop will be green
with envy if it does without. Do you see the light at the
end of this tunnel?
3-D Rendered -
Mr. Scott "Mad Macs" Chitwood gets all deep and stuff with
his latest creation from the 1st National Rampant
Mac Banks
of Chaos. Against
The Fall Of Night adds another Chitwood
gem to your RM Desktop collection and adds some wings
to break on through to the other side.
From the marshall of arts residing
at Xiupe Créations comes
an outstanding 3-D work titled 3
D Bruce Lee. S.
Stéphane has really out done himself with this incredible
piece. A fine piece for all you Bruce Lee fans and 3-D
buffs!
When
it comes to the realistic works of Juergen Eilts, it's hard
to tell the difference between ShiftedReality and
the real thing. Countryside adds
a whole lot of the great outdoors to your desktop without
even putting on your clean socks. This beautiful selection
was created using Worldbuilder 3.1.
Ever wanna to fly to Mars
and find out what is really going on? Well, perhaps Terraholic's Martin Schulte knows something we don't! There
Is Water On Mars seems to indicate a tad bit
of moisture on that red neighboring planet of ours. I guess
my only question is: With a great pic like this, did Martin
TAKE the picture or CREATE the picture?!! Enjoy!
Thanks

this red cap has diminished a lot since he regularly uses the

FINE AS WINE
I
told my wife that a man is like a fine wine...I always get
better with age. The next day, she locked me in the wine cellar.
MY NAME IS MUD
"Waiter! This coffee
tastes like mud."
"Yes
sir, it's fresh ground."
GUILTY
Sue reported for jury
duty as ordered, and promptly asked to be excused because
she believed she's
prejudice. "I took one look at those shifty eyes and
that cheap
polyester suit and I immediately knew that he was guilty
as sin."
"Sit down," said the judge. "That's
the prosecuting attorney."

New Monkie
Poll - Could it be? Is it time once again
for some useless information? OH YEAH! And that, of course,
translates into a new Monkie Poll and last week's
results.
Let's look!
Last
week we asked: After
work, what do you do first? Here's
how you responded:
Check your mail 45%
- You're addicted to correspondence!
I don't work 16%
- Any relation to Mr. Gates?
Eat a snack? 15%
- As long as it's not Monkie dip.
I work 24-7 9%
- Break out the eye lid toothpicks!
Turn on the TV 8%
- What's a TV?
Take a nap 7%
- Now THAT'S my kinda Monkie!
I am assuming that most of the mail you're referring
to is e-mail. Cuz we all know that the other mail usually contains
those nasty little bills!
For this
week's Monkie
Poll, we return to some Rock 'n' Roll Trivia. And
the back beat would be: What
is considered to be the best Rock 'n' Roll Album of all
time? Test your knowledge this week with
a little click,
look to your right, and let us know. ROCK
ON!
Miscellaneous Monkie - Just a note
to all you wonderful Monkies that last week's hut hunting
didn't go as well as planned. So, this week's Monkie schedule
is still subject to change. Please Monkie with us as we roll
with the changes. THANKS!

iPod: The Surrogate
Pet -
Apple's iPod has taken the Big Apple by storm! It is separating
the men
from
the boys, or the monkeys from the apes...It is
separating the New York population into haves and have-nots.
Apparently the iPod has become to New York what the cell phone
is to Vegas -- everywhere you look someone is using it as an
address book or alarm clock. New Yorkers are so obsessed with
them that they treat their iPods like pocket pets. Oh yeah,
and occasionally they even use them to listen to music. -

On The Music Bandwagon - Microsoft
has a music mechanism on the way that they hope will lead to
more success with subscribers. It is an enhancement in security
for subscription services that will allow people to download
songs to portable music players rather than just their PCs.
The prime PC profiteer planned to proclaim their updated securities
last January, but decided to delay the declaration. Now Apple
has stolen the spotlight with the iTunes Music Store. I
just can't imagine Microsoft having an idea that was similar
to Apple's! - from
