COURT CASE

Q. So, after the anesthesia, when you came out of it, what did you observe with respect to your scalp?

A. I didn't see my scalp the whole time I was in the hospital.

Q. It was covered?

A. Yes, bandaged.

Q. Then, later on...what did you see?

A. I had a skin graft. My whole buttocks and leg were removed and put on top of my head.

Ummm...OUCH!!!

TOKYO TOOTLES

From a brochure of a car rental firm in Tokyo:

When passenger of foot heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage then tootle him with vigor.

X MARKS THE DUMB SPOT

Two friends rented a boat and fished in a lake everyday. One day they caught 30 fish. One guy said to his friend, "Mark this spot so that we can come back here again tomorrow."

The next day, when they were driving to rent the boat, the same guy asked his friend, "Did you mark that spot?"

His friend replied, "Yeah, I put a big 'X' on the bottom of the boat."

The first one said, "You stupid fool! What if we don't get that same boat today!?!?"

iPod Eliminates Elevator Music - Don’t look now but people have once again put iPodthe iPod to good use. Some have started an iPod service where they program songs according to business needs and rent out the iPod. Gone are the days of canned elevator music - restaurants, night clubs and hair salons are all cashing in for cool music! If only companies would play cool tunes over the phone line when they put people on hold. Okay, so everyone could use an Apple iPod or two or three...soon there will probably be a book published on its 1,000,001 uses! - from Wired

Keynote Craze - The famous face of Apple’s CEO will be broadcast http://www.macminute.com/2003/06/17/uowacross the country on June 23. Starting at 10:00am PT, Steve Jobs' smirking smile will be on screens from sea to shining sea as he delivers his keen keynote at the Worldwide Developers Conference. New GOO!

New Desktops - Woo hoo! This week's Desktop Edition features some awesome new work from our latest contributor Marty Leone, the return of the "long lost" Donnie Fischer, and of course a fabulous batch of GUI goodies from your favorite Desktop artists. So let's get to the uncanned, live batch of pixel pleasin' GUI goods!

Moon Genesis3-D Rendered - It's not very often that you get tons of great pics from one artist, but Marty Leone breaks all the rules in the quality department! We begin featuring Marty's fine line of cool desktop contributions with Moon Genesis. This amazing selection is sure to grab your attention as we begin our journey to the moon and beyond!

God's FingerMartin Schulte offers another outstanding landscape sculpture from the fine creations of Terraholic.net. Sometimes you just can't help but to look into the sky and see God's Finger at work. We think you'll see the same sense of inspirational awe when you get an eyeful of this great work.

DandelionNature - Though it's been a while since we've heard from Donnie Fischer, it was well worth the wait. Donnie delves into a different side of the digital domain as he offers a photo titled Dandelion. This desktop of depth will add the seeds of weeds from that simple "flower" we've all enjoyed from our youth to the rocking chair.

Mio min mioDesktops - From Prevision's Jack Juliussen, the master of letter box creations, comes another work of art called Mio min mio. This pic is of a tale from the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren in which a lonely boy is transferred from his dull life with his adoptive parents to the land where his real father is the king. You da king!

Logos - We all know we could use all the monkie business around the MacMonkiesMonkie Business that we can possibly get. So, we have the honor of featuring...drum roll please...MacMonkies by PlasmaDesign's Rob Randtoul. This fantastic piece comes from the phenomenal workshop of Rob's pixel palace. And you can even have your own customized crystal monogram desktop for a teeny price from PlasmaDesign. Phenomenal work! Enjoy!!

BLONDES STRIKE BACK

Why are blonde jokes so short?

So that brunettes can remember them.

YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK...

You might be a redneck if you refuse to slide during a softball game because you don't want to crush your cigarettes!

FIRST-TIME GOLFER

A retiree was given a set of golf clubs by his co-workers. Thinking he'd try the game, he asked the local pro for lessons, explaining that he knew nothing whatever of the game.

The pro showed him the stance and swing, then said, "Just hit the ball toward the flag on the first green."

The novice teed up and smacked the ball straight down the fairway and onto the green, where it stopped inches from the hole. "Now what?" the fellow asked the speechless pro.

"Uh...you're supposed to hit the ball into the cup," the pro finally said, after he was able to speak again.

"Oh great! NOW you tell me." said the beginner.

Kissing Cows To Collect Cash - Church members of West Virginia put a lot of stock in kissing cattle. They joined in on a milk jug contest sponsored by their youth group to collect cash. The juveniles labeled milk jugs with names of community members, and church members dropped money in the jugs depending on which candidate they would like to see kiss a cow. Of course, permission was obtained by each of the participants. The two most lucrative jugs named the two lucky winners, one of which was the assistant superintendent of schools. - from Yahoo

Mandolux - Just in at Mandolux is a new Landscape Giant/Dual Monitor desktop titled Los Angeles V2. This latest selection from Mando Gomez is the end result of the actions of a rent-a-cop. Mando was hoping to capture a photo of a local freeway and use it for his latest Landscape Giant/Dual Monitor setups. But instead, he was asked by the rent-a-cop not to take any pictures in the premise and to leave. New Monkie Poll - Hey!! Are you challengin' me? Are you still in pursuit of some semi-useless information? Well, this Monkie can certainly oblige! So let's look into this week's new Monkie Poll and last week's results. Drum roll please!

Monkie PollLast week we asked: What do you think of Apple's New iPod? Here's how you responded:

Totally groovin'! 81% - Gads! You've got good taste!

Makes no diff 2 me! 15% - Hey...It's an Apple! What more can ya say?!

What flavor lima beans? 4% - Or should that be "iMa" beans?

MARKING THE MOOD

My husband bought me a mood ring the other day. When I'm in a good mood it turns green. When I'm in a bad mood, it leaves a red mark on his forehead."

Older Monkie!

WOW!

Hard to believe, but this Monkie is about to turn 2 years of age! What started out as 40 hits per day has graduated to 5.2 million hits per month.

I can't say I know what this "means" as far as true "web success," but it sure means a lotta coconutz to pick up!! But even more than that, it makes this Monkie pleased as punch that you all take your time to return for a grin or two.

So as I have probably failed to mention as of late, a great big
THANKS
go out to
YOU
for making a Monkie's day!
